boarderkid: I sent in a sort of highlight tape (well, DVD) of myself playing volleyball. It was pretty awesome seeing my dad videotape and make it, and I think it gave me a little bit of an edge, maybe!! It’s worth a shot. Send in sports or music tapes (of good video/recording quality, so as not to annoy the admissions office!) and that’s a helpful thing.

Don’t send it to much useless stuff though (like random certificates etc.), unless they ask. That can be a burden…from what I hear at least.rn

I don’t have any videos of me playing…and I have a CD of the whole choir singing (not just me) from sixth and seventh grade. Should I send in the CD?

Do you need a cover letter? When you list your accomplishments, should you just list them or explain?

What do you mean a cover letter? I thought you just put it in the space in your application.

I don’t know…someone had said something about a cover letter / resume sort of thing so I was just wondering…hm. Maybe you don’t need it after all!

When I sent in the highlight DVD, it was separate from my application. Sooo, I added a quick cover letter describing who I am, how this tape was relevant, and some facts about my athletics. It was simple and short.

So a cover letter is basically a quick summer of what you’re sending in, your statistics and who you are.
