my friend applied b4 deadline ithink n he didnt gt one.. bt i did . bt i hope "stupidly enogh" tht it will mean something...
ohwells, who nos

i had an interview, but my app was turned in early september so i definitely made the deadline to get an interview

I sent my application the day before the deadline...I really hope it means something that I still got an interview, but I just feel like all applicants are given one if the alumni presence in their community is large enough to accommodate a lot of interviews.

=(.

^^ The deadline for the overall application, not to be eligible for an interview, I mean.

Haven't got any interview yet :(

I got an interview as well and I actually submitted the day before the deadline and Duke got my other materials a few days after the deadline (shhhh, it was kind of a last minute decision, don't hate). The interview went really well and it's so weird looking back on it now because these are the exact days he was talking about ("I'll know your decision a few days before you, but I encourage you not to contact me and see if you're in, just wait like everyone else.") haha. I'm so tempted! Not really, tomorrow is close enough.

Anyway, I think I'm going to leave CC until I get my decisions! Good luck to all! :D!

I wonder if what my interviewer said is true. He essentially said that the interview was for the student, not for the school, and that the school placed no weight on the interview whatsoever.

interviews are really overrated. Both of the schools I got likely letters from, Duke and Columbia, are the schools that I never interviewed for.

i submitted my app on the deadline day (i think january 2nd), which is way after the deadline date (i think it was december 15th) but was still called for an interview. i also hope this is an auspicious sign of some sort. (interview was around late feb/early march)

I thought the interview went well, although my interviewer never shared the information given to dpattz. lolcats4, I see you live in AZ...so do I. What HS do you go to? (I go to Dobson in Mesa)

I hope the interview will help..doubt that they reallllly consider it as a big factor.
My interviewer said he will focus on my excellent extracurriculars in the paragraph interviewers have to write and he asked me what he should tell Duke about me.. but at that moment I went blank and said nothing =S I should have told him to emphasis how much I love Duke =(

Good luck to everyone!!!

My interview was at a local Starbucks. My interviewer was about 20 minutes late, and while wondering his whereabouts, I tactically placed myself in front of a window and read a newspaper. The interviewer came rolling into the parking lot with his blue 2008 H3 (the blue color gave me an initial suspicion that it was his). He had noticed me reading the newspaper from outside, and it not only gave us a good starting point to start conversing (he had no pre-written questions; he basically went with the flow), it also helped me look a little more intellectual in his eyes (first impressions are everything). The guy was relatively young (only about 26), and he was awesome.

^ haha this guy sounds like my interviewer. He came late to Starbucks and brought his backpack with him, though he didn't take any notes. He brought his backpack so he could do work after interviewing me >_>

^ lolz, I was reading a poetry anthology when my interviewer walked in! Good times!

Lol my interview was scheduled at 4 pm on a saturday, and I walked in at exactly 4:01 after racing to get there (I decided to shave my caveman-like face, which resulted in hair on my shirt, which meant I had to pick out another one, which made me lose time, all the while driving 60 mph past a school zone...that was a fun day.

^lmao

"I was reading a poetry anthology when my interviewer walked in! Good times!"

Wow, that is a smart idea Oo I never thought of reading something to impress the interviewer...I was too busy playing on my iphone xD and then my interviewer walks in late and goes ahem excuse me are you......? --

^ Oh, I wasn't purposefully reading it to impress her. I read poetry at least 30 minutes a day, minimum. I start to realize my addiction when I go to Half-Price Books on the weekend to scrounge for used poetry books for like $1-3. EPIC.

compared to all of you guys, i probably didnt act too smart or graceful.
my interviewer scheduled it right after school, so i had to race out of the school parking lot, get to starbucks and find her in the massive crowd of high school students. It wasnt hard to spot her, since she chose the afterschool high school hangout.
and right before i was about to introduce myself, i totally tripped and just about shoved the table into her.

i dont know if this was for all interviews, but she told me to never contact her after the interview.... ?

^aww, well that at least adds uniqueness xD
As far as never contacting her again, that is very rude of her. Generally interviewers told me to contact them if I came across any questions.

@hookem168 oh lol...well either way, I am sure your interviewer was impressed =]

ahhh I am all up for skipping school tomorrow =S

i thought my interview went really well. turns out i probably know my interviewer's kids because i work as a summer camp counselor at the camp that her kids go to so she got really into that and liked that alot
