why, hello to you too. so did you sign up for an interview

Is the interview limited to Seniors..or is anyone on here who intereviewed..when did you do it? My daughter is a junior and wants to go there..does she need to wait till next year to be interviewed?

My son had an interview as a senior with USC's dean of engineering when they came to his high school. He signed up with his GC to have an interview--his HS sends a lot of kids into USC's engineering department.
You can contact the school about whether they are conducting interviews in your area. Generally, there are alumni interviews & some interviews by admissions personnel & sometimes some by other folks from the school. You can also ask the school about whether they only interview seniors or also interview juniors. At our HS, seniors are given preference.

i always thought it was just for seniors, but I could probably be wrong. call the admin office to see!

USC will be in Atlanta Oct 30. I'm going!!

THE STUPID WEBSITE WONT WORK FOR ME!!! AHHH.
and when I call its ALWAYS busy oh my God so I still haven't signed up.

frikkin....
so my friend from ND came down to Cali today. I gave her a rough time. =)

D: This thread seemed like the place to go. I just scheduled my interview and IS there anything specific to bring? How should we dress? And when they interview us, our parents aren't present are they? My father is taking me and having him there as I have my interview wouldn't be too pleasant.

When my son had his interview with the dean of engineering at his HS, he didn't bring anything & had a very nice interview with the dean. Just the two of them were present, as I believe interviews are generally conducted.
Where will your interview be conducted? You can't go wrong with a nice shirt/blouse or polo shirt and nice dress/khaki slacks, with non-athletic footwear. My son, being himself, wore the cargo shorts & t-shirt & sweatshirt he lives in, with tennis shoes. He thinks the interview went quite well and was pleased.

Since I live nearby, my interview is located on campus. I am being interviewed by someone from the engineering department since I applied as a chemical engineer.

I guess wear something nice, but not too formal? I was thinking of a white or black blouse with some slacks myself.

Has anyone here interviewed in NYC? I'm signed up for Nov. 20th, but I just checked the location and it's at a hotel (I hadn't realized this before) so now I'm imagining it will be at the cafe of the hotel? Or something like that?

I'd appreciate it if anyone has any experience with that.

thanks!

I too will be there Nov. 20 at the Marriott. I'm not sure how it will work though.

ooh awesome! what time? mine is 9:30 :)

Mine is 11. I am hoping to make a good impression, I'll need a scholarship to afford tuition and travel expenses.

Last year USC had interviews in a hotel in NYC too. They had a big room with lots of interviews going on in the same time; there was an area outside the room where you waited to be called in.

thank you for the info jrpar and good luck to you devils67... looks like we're in the same situation... ny to cali

Good luck to you too Dawn. jrpar, what kinds of questions did they ask? Anything other than just the typical "why do you want to come to USC?" type stuff?

Devils67 - sorry I don't know what specific questions they asked (my son was the one interviewed!) I think the questions probably depended on who your interviewer was too. It wasn't a tough interview - my son enjoyed the interview and didn't come out of the interview surprised at all - standard stuff, generally about what your interests were and why you were interested in USC I think.

My interview is on Dec 13th, I sceduled it at the beginning of this month. I asked for an earlier date but thy were all full...

Hey guys, I just got back from my interview

It went well, very informal. I was the most formally dressed and I was wearing a collared shirt and black skirt and heels. My interviewer was really nice and we basically talked about me, my extracurriculars, etc. I wouldn't worry about it, as they are very nice people who know you are nervous, good luck everybody!

I'm gald it went well! How long was it?
