Divine Powers? Bah! Humbug! Phooey! The topic creator needs to read some Camus. :p

Harvard determines your future. If something determines your life, it has to involve divine power.

Duke and Wellesley--apparently the Gods are.

yeah, at my school that was the most you could take junior year. you do know that every high school is different, right?
i was valedictorian though so that probably also contributed. i think they just want to find students who used their high schools' resources to the best of their ability...

this thread amuses me.

oh, does your dad mention that going to a top liberal arts college, like Williams College, will help boost up med. school admission chance? I mean would going to a LAC, even Williams, harm or help gaining admissions to med. school??? Could you ask?

Thank you! This has been my biggest concern so far.

B/c I really like Williams, but meanwhile, I want to go to med. school after undergraduate. I don't know if LAC would be the best choice. (Well, so far, I don't know where else I will get into except a couple UCs. UCs are fine, but I don't really want to go there.) Would going to UCs better for med. school or Williams? Ahhhh....

Hey samgee,

My dad said that the admission committee gives a VERY big preference to those from the ivy’s and other big name (MIT Stanford, Caltech ect.) However, for most other colleges (UC’s, LAC, Williams etc.) the applicants are evaluated about equally. (MCAT, GPA and Research very important). I’d take the college which I would thrive (Better GPA, Research etc.) in.

Hello Squiggle88,

Would taking college courses (senior-level) make up for lower grades (A’s, B’s, C’s)? Also, would high AP scores make up for lower grades? You see, I don’t like doing busy work a whole lot...

Thanks a lot for all your help Squiggle88!

Also could someone tell me if positive thinking would help getting into Harvard? All those speakers say think positive, but I don't know...

I cannot believe this. The God is on crack.

Since you're new, I guess it's cool. But a lot of what you're asking (and trying to disprove and trying to prove and trying to do whatever it is you're trying to do) is floating around the boards. There's a lot of knowledge here; spend a while on CC and you just start to soak it in.

The oxygen is getting pretty thin up here in rarified Cambridge. <kak></kak>

The God, there is no formula to get into Harvard. Do your best is all we can say.

Harvard Smarvard. Go read it. =)

What about positive thinking. Their is no information on that on College Confidential?

I agree with The God. Most of this stuff, and life in general, is luck. You just gotta accept it and learn to make decisions based on this fact.

I will be your roomie, especially since I recently became an official minister in the Universal Life Church and am now able to officiate at baptisms, weddings and funerals. After Thursday at 5PM, I expect to be busy with some of this officiating, but after that I would be happy to discuss colors for our mutual dorm room. Consider the color red, my mother knows for sure that this is a powerful color, since she wore it under her dress at her college interview and was accepted to all the schools she applied. Plus, think mammy and the red petticoat, but I am digressing....If you really seek the divine, I can really assist.

uh, paul allen didnt go to harvard, he went to washington state university and dropped out, which pretty much proves the point as to why a harvard education is irrelevant insofar as those who are going to be successful are going to be successful no matter where they go. you're an idiot.

This whole thread looks like a joke to me.

Why would God be impressed if you joined five religions? It would show you're not dedicated, and that you're just trying to pad your holy resume.

Also, I plan to enroll in 5 different religions this summer, which will help me get in Harvard....<<

Bad move. Religions are like clubs. In fact they ARE clubs. Everyone always says that Harvard likes to see deep involvement in 1 or 2 clubs rather than a serial joiner of many clubs.

;-)

This thread is beyond amusing..it is hilarious! I am totally missing the positive thinking thing though. What is the OP trying to say ( I refuse to type his screen name since I shall not use the name of the Lord in vain ) Of course I believe in positive thinking. I hate negativism and negative people around me. I always think of "the glass as half full and not half empty". But are you saying that if I think positive, that positive energy will influence the adcoms and get me into Harvard?
And what does your point about Gates proves? He is a Harvard drop out. If he had stayed at Harvard, then we would probably have some other guy or gal, better looking richest man in the world instead of that fat, nerdy looking dude who stole from Apple to develop his Windows OS.

Then I shall give tremdous amounts of cash to the church. (I invited the Bishop over last week!)

Any way, MovieBuff, does positive thinking help you get into Harvard? Did it get you in?
Also, someone told me that Divine powers and vibes from positive thinking influence the adcoms. Something does, so it must be true. Also, m.y dad said that that's true, but he kind of crack..

The God
