Hi! I'm currently a high school junior and I'm going to start applying to colleges this summer. I want to know what I can do this year that will better my applications and give me a higher chance of being accepted.
Currently I have been in theatre for three years, tech theatre for two years and also I am taking an animation course. Next year I plan to continue theatre, possibly the animation and along with that I'm going to take a film course they offer at my school. My grades are fairly average and I'm in the top 24% out of 817 students (I hope to raise that this year). I'll take my first SAT this January. I know that I should do more outside of class, but is there anything specific that you guys recommend?

The lack of response to your question is that it has been addressed on many other threads. In fact, Madbean did a good synopsis only a few days ago.

There is nothing we can tell you to do that will improve your chances. SCA takes only 4% of its applicants. Just be the best you can, and do the best you can answering the supplement questions. USC focuses on your stats and qualifications. SCA looks more holistically at who you are, what your unique voice is, and what fuels your passions.

The process is subjective. SCA’s acceptance is separate from USC (although you have to be accepted to USC before SCA can accept you). So look at SCA’s supplement carefully - then spend some time filling it out.

Other than that - NO ONE here can tell you what your chances are or what to do differently. Because NO ONE here knows what SCA is looking for in any individual year. Be yourself, and don’t look back.

Now - go read Madbean’s thread. It’s very informative.

I have a question about SAT 2 requirement.
In the “International applicant” section SAT 2 is not mentioned in the required tests.
In the “First year applicant”, it is stated that:

We only require SAT Subject tests from first-year applicants who do not attend a regionally accredited high school (e.g., home school, some non-accredited parochial or community based programs, even some newer schools). These students must submit three SAT Subject exams, including one in mathematics. For all other applicants, these exams are optional, but recommended. We find them helpful in evaluating applications for merit scholarships.

So if I am an international student attending a normal public high school, do I have to take the SAT 2? And how many subjects? I am not familiar with the accredited school concept.

Thanks.
