If my ACT writing score was 18, will that negatively impact admission chances?

Since UCI CS is very competitive (22% acceptance rate), your test scores will impact your chances. Your GPA is very good and UCI likes high GPA’s.
UC’s do require the ACT with writing so they do consider it important but not as important as Math and Critical Reading. Any chance you are retaking either test in December?
I would put your chances as High Match/Low Reach. If you can bump up your test scores, your chances would definitely improve.

@Gumbymom Thank you for your help! Do you know what my chances for CSULB and CSUF would be under the same major? I feel like it will be highly unlikely that I would get into UCI at this point. I can’t apply to SLO or CSUP due to family problems at the moment.
You have a good chance at CSUF and CSULB. SLO would be a Reach even if you could apply. SLO’s CS acceptance rate is around 12% and again your scores would be an issue.
