We are in the same boat. It is really hard to pass up the generous offer from UMBC so I will check out the schools newspaper articles. Are you out of State? We are in state so even if UMBC raised prices we are so much better off than any of the private schools he has also gotten very generous offers from. My concern would be the cutting of majors or professors, things like that. Thanks for the heads up I will look at the article.
Can someone link that article?
Here are 2 that might be of interest:

Thank you for posting! The articles confirm what I had read last month. I am sure this is disheartening for all involved, and definitely a disincentive to attend despite the generous scholarship offer. When I asked about implications of budget cuts during a recent online chat, the administrator responded “We are committed to our students.” That was all I got, and it wasn’t enough.
In the grand scheme of things, to me it doesn’t look it will change very much. I was concerned if the engineering programs were going to take major hits. Its a great sign they are not going to be furloughing the faculty and at the end of the day the faculty really determine the quality of the education. Its a state wide issue that is trying to be addressed and not necessarily anything UMBC did wrong mis management or budget wise. It is still a public school and has to bend on the demands by state governments to help out where it can.
