Admission Possible?

Hello:

I’m a current student at LCC. In high school, I did well (3.75 GPA, top 10 in my graduation class) and an ACT score of 24. I went to LCC (GPA was between 3.5 and 3.8 consistently) and got my associates and then transferred to CMU. I ended up very depressed very quickly and I was increasingly worried about my mom, who had major surgery and wasn’t recovering quickly just before I moved to start university. I ended up flunking out after two semesters simply because I didn’t do coursework, not because I didn’t understand the material. My GPA is still in good shape I think, 3.53 at LCC, and I’m finishing up some basic core classes in order to transfer from LCC because of the new state requirements and because I changed my major. I am hoping to transfer to MSU as a first choice if it’s possible, WMU or GVSU as back up’s, but considering what happened last time I’m unsure given my academic standing. Do I have a chance at being admitted to MSU? If not, what should I do?

I think it’s definitely possible. You still have an excellent GPA and a good track record. Bad semesters happen, and these schools see transcripts a lot worse than yours. MSU might scrutinize it more than the other schools, but there’s a good chance of getting in.
