I'm currently a sophomore at Syracuse University which is a pretty high ranked University.

So I should end this third semester by about december with close to a 3.2 GPA and 37 credits. I'm from Michigan, as well. I really need to go back to my home state because someone in my family has been diagnosed with Cancer and I want to be closer with them. I have a few EC's from a couple clubs and some volunteering.

I'll apply early January for fall of 2013, do you guys think I have a decent chance especially since I'm coming from a higher ranked university instead of a community college.

Please let me know what I can/should do to improve my chances of being accepted for Fall of 2013. It's somewhat dire for me because of the situation for this family member.

Stretch. GPA below 3.3 is definitely a toss up. If you don’t, transfer to LCC for a semester or year and get your GPA up before applying to MSU again.

I am so sorry about your family situation. I stayed in-state because of my parents’ health and haven’t regretted it a minute. Best wishes to you!

I see. thank you. Do you think putting down some clubs/activities/volunteers would help me?
I’ll have about 38 credits when I apply in early January.

Would you say I’m around a 50-60% chance I could get in?

Does coming from a fairly good university similar in level to MSU help my chances at all either?

I would make sure you find a place in your application to bring up your family situation. Cancer sucks. In this case, use it to your advantage.
