Hello everybody.
I am an international undergraduate applicant to some USA colleges. I have been selected by NYU and have been offered their Presidential Honors Scholarship Program. However, I have not been offered enough financial aid by NYU. The deadline to reply to their offer is May 1. The crux of my problem lies in the fact that I have been waitlisted by 4 colleges who have a need pledge. As my financial condition is borderline, I would like to wait for their decisions before I choose a college. However, NYU's admitted students page said that I have to withdraw other applications by May 1.I would like to know if I will just have to withdraw all the offers I have received from various universities or if I have to give up my waitlist positions too(I think its the latter but I want to be sure). I don't think I will be surely able to afford NYU, but I want to secure my place as there is some chance of me getting the required sum of money. As such I want to verify if I need to withdraw all my waitlist positions. It may seem as a case of wanting and eating my cake, but when the cake is small(FA package) and the requirement large(~$35000 shortfall right now), the decision is out of a person's hands. The bottomline is that I want to have a look at both the scenarios before I have to decide. Do I have that privilege?

Hi there,

I’m an international applicant as well from the UK and waiting to hear from Yale NUS about my wait listed application as well as USC but have been accepted to NYU. I’m also sort of in the same position as you with regard to their deadline. Honestly, the best thing to do would be to call their office up and talk to one of the financial aid advisors. You can try emailing them but honestly, you probably won’t get a reply until AFTER the deadline has passed!
I’m in dire need of more financial aid as well and have been in touch with them about my situation so I need to ring admissions tomorrow to request an extension but this is on a unique basis and I need to fill out some additional forms as well. Although my situation isn’t EXACTLY the same, this is my best advice to you!
Best of luck in all your future endeavours and if all goes well then hopefully we can see each other at NYU this fall!

By the way the financial aid office number is: 001 212 998 4444 extension 0 to be connected to a financial aid officer.
