Admission Question for Business Schools, kinda Urgent!!

I am attending my first year of undergrad next year. I wanted to know if i I apply to a very prestigious business school, will it hurt me if the school I go to is not prestigious but I have a very high gpa; University of Central Florida, or is very prestigious; Emory, with an average gpa better?

What's the most important admission factor?

Thanks

Work experience is the most important admission factor such as accounting at the Big-4 or being an investment-banking analyst etc. The university you attend doesn’t really matter but it could help… lets say you have the exact same stats with a guy who attended Wharton for his undergraduate degree, they would probably go with the Wharton applicant. I don’t really think the GPA matters at all, just keep it above 3.0 but if you plan to land a nice job and you’re at a public school you are expected to have a higher GPA compared to someone from Emory. The more prestigious your university, the better the job you will get, the better job that you get, the better MBA program you will get into. It’s all connected!

What your saying it true, but just to make sure your quite away of it, University of Central Florida is in Orlando. Orlando is a booming city consiting of many major corporations; Disney, Universal, ..., For this reason if i were to have a high gpa and a very noteworthy job working at Disney, do u think that would be better than having an ok gpa at Emory and working at like Coca Cola, since that company offers many jobs to Emory?

Thanks so much!

Summer jobs aren't always where the college is located. Emory will give you more national options than UCF. With that said, GPA is important as well, but I don't understand why you think your GPA at Emory would be "ok." If you got into Emory, you prob. have the potential to do quite well academically.

how would Emory give me more of a national level? If I got to UCF for undergrad, I plan to go to a prestigious Grad, possibly Emory, then I should be able to get a job at a national level. Are you sayign that by going to Emory it will be easier to get an internship at a national level?

Simple: Emory is recruited on a national level; UCF is not. If you go to Emory it is highly likely you will land a prestigious job, wither it be consulting etc. I don't think working at Disney Land with a degree from UCF is all that prestigious; it would look better to MBA programs if you had Goldman Sacs as your employer :).
