Questions on the Goizuetta Business School

Hi I had a few questions regarding the business school.
1.What is the average GPA they let in?
2. To those who are currently attending, how is the program?
3. How are the strengths of recruits and from around where?
4. Anything unique about it that seperates it from other business schools such as a trading system?
Thanks

I graduated with a BBA in May, which means I applied over two years ago, but I believe the application statistics are about the same.

The average GPA they let in is about a 3.5. Of course, if you have below that and you discuss it with the pre-BBA advisor, Libby Egnor, she can give you a better idea of your chances of getting in. The most important criteria is how you did specifically on your BBA prerequisites. If you did not get a B or above on all of them, that may decrease your chances.

The program is GREAT overall. The intro classes can be somewhat dull depending on your concentration. However, the upper-level classes are mostly wonderful. If they are not, the BBA program office takes very strongly into account what the students think of the courses and makes changes accordingly. We have some of the best professors in the nation and the program prepares its students very well for the real world. They provide the best resources and the perfect requirements to force us to network and interview until we do such with ease and grace.

We get recruiters from the top firms of every concentration: Bain, PwC, Deloitte, E&Y, Barclays, Citigroup, etc. Most of the time, recruiters recruit regionally, which means the Emory recruiters are recruiting for the Atlanta offices. You can request for an office in a different city, but your chances significantly goes down. However, I would say that about half of my graduating class (that got offers… I think about 85%, if I remember correctly) took offers in New York, DC, or a similar city. The other half took offers here in Atlanta.

I think what separates us from other business schools is that we are a relatively small business school. We’re just as great as the other top 10 schools (We’re ranked 7th), if not better. However, most other schools have much larger classes. What this means is that there is a much better ratio of recruiters to students at any given networking event. Most of my accounting recruiting events had 1 recruiter/professional per 4 students. Every recruiter from every company event I went to knew me by the 2nd or 3rd event. Most of the accounting recruiters (as well as many of the professionals) knew me by name and recalled the conversations we had at previous events without me having to remind them or reintroduce myself. Other schools may have the same number of events or amount of resources, but our small size paired with our (well known) great school reputation definitely gives us a HUGE advantage.
