<p>I know that there is somewhere a thread about this before, but I can't seem to find it right now, so I'm reviving it here :)</p>
<p>So, here it is... could anyone whose applied (and/or got into) BS before post what their letters were like??? (this idea might sound a little silly... but I'm just so bored and nervous right now that I could really use a little hope... which I dunno how the letters may bring to me... but I just really wanna see them!!!!)</p>

<p>i was waitlisted at both andover and hotchkiss. their letters telling me that i was waitlisted I can't find right now because I've put them in my filing cabinet somewhere. but I do remember that they sounded like rejection letters right out, but towards the end it said I was waitlisted</p>
<p>i was waitlisted at Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, and Lawrenceville. Andover was kind of discouraging, looked like a rejection letter at first. Exeter was more encouraging, Deerfield was postive and had a note from the director of admission, and Lawrenceville...i don't really remember.</p>
<p>when my sister was accepted, the third paragraph of the letter was personal. It described her strengths and admirable qualities. It also touched on her weaknesses and encouraged her to be more artistically involved.</p>
<p>@Benev: Wow, the admit letter talked about her weaknesses? Talk about hitting the ground running with high expectations huh? That really surprises me!</p>

i thought that they just printed copies of the letters then stick your name onto them...</p>
<p>It's an ISL school. I can't really specify due to privacy issues. Admission officers lurk on this site, or so I am told...</p>
<p>I don't remember her getting it, but when I was reccently digging though some old folders, I found the packet. The First 2 paragraphs were like a standard and uniform congratulation with some info and stuff, but then the third paragraph described essentially why she was accepted. It commented on her enthusiasm, teacher recs, compassion, and friendliness. Then at the very end of the paragraph it mentioned how she was not artistically involved and how as a student they would love to see her become more active with visual and performing arts.</p>
<p>Ohh... and PA-C the letter was more encouraging than insulting.</p>
<p>In response to glitters... I think any truly good school would write a personal acceptance letter. After all the school's main focus in this, is to encourage students to matriculate. Maybe large schools like E or A don't. I don't really know!!</p>
<p>I don't think most schools have the time, regardless of how good they are. Schools like Andover and Exeter receive (not just accept) over 300 kids per year and they have two months or under to go through all of the application materials, and yet at Andover five people read each file. With this much going on in admissions, I find it highly doubtful that schools like these (and probably most smaller ones) have enough time to essentially do exactly what a student's faculty advisor would do on a one-to-one basis.</p>
<p>Well after you put the "A" on the folder. Would it be to hard to write 2-4 sentences on the folder that you want on the letter before going on to the next file?</p>
<p>At SPS, acceptances letters are very personalized, which I thought was not only nice, but an astute marketing angle. The one received in our house mentioned precise skills/strengths of my child and referenced quotes from specific teacher recommendations.</p>
<p>Shows how important those recommendations can be!</p>
<p>My guess is that the interviewer or whoever is "recommending" or presenting the applicant to the admissions committee has put together a summary of highlights for that student which could be utilized in the acceptance letter.</p>

<p>SPS does their's online, which I prefer. No waiting in agony for the mailman to arrive. It is followed up by a snailmail package, that was an 9x11" size envelope which contained letters from various people at the school, admissions stats, financial agreements, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. Since SPS is an ISL school, there was a statement indicating that they would abide by the ISL policy of not contacting you or "putting the full court press" on you prior to the response date of 4/10 but stating that you should not take that as an indication that they did not want you - because they most certainly do!</p>
<p>But don't you guys (and girls) think that there's more "suspense" and "feel" to wait for it to arrive by snail mail? To me it just seems somehow cooler... but maybe that's just me...</p>
<p>are other schools like Andover/Exeter like SPS, anyone know? Like, would they give you a personalized letter too, or just the same thing for everyone considering the amount of apps they receive???</p>
