Wow, I’m sorry to hear that those of you got rescinded from UCR. I also was panicking first semester during my senior year cuz my GPA was a 3.0. I had one “F” in Pre-Calc and the rest of my grades weren’t that good. However, I knew that if you had any D’s or F’s on your report card you must write to the UC and explain why you got that particular grade. So that’s what I did and I didn’t get rescinded. I was so stressed first semester cuz I was in the tennis team, had 3 AP’s, personal statements to write, exams…etc…
So, second semester I quickly transferred out of pre-calc and got in finite math which was easier but I had a crappy teacher. I still had an F and there was only about 6-weeks left until the end of the year. The one thing that saved my ASS was that I had a new teacher since my old teacher had to leave cuz she was almost due. By the end, I was able to pull a C- and the rest of my classes were solid grades. 2 C’s and the rest were A’s and B’s(with 3 AP classes). I was so happy cuz I had a 3.5GPA second semester! Anyways, so I know what you guys are going through cuz I was worried that I might get rescinded too cuz of my “F” in Pre-Calc. Thank goodness I was smart and transferred out second semester.
Good luck to all of you! Hope you guys get in your dream school!

Woah, this is really freaking me out now. I got an D AP Physics and an F in AP Calc the next semester. I just called them this morning and had a long discussion about it. I’m still very uncertain of the verdict as her explanation was very vague. The thing is I received a B in Physics 60 at a community college the summer before… I’m not sure if that replaces the D. I’m also taking summer session courses at UCR which include Calc.

Where is everyone going since all the SIR deadlines are over? Are there any CSUs accepting applications/freshman still?

No, the applications for the CSU’s was in March. It’s too late now. I think you better go the CC route and then transfer to a UC. Did UCR already rescind your admission?

No, but from reading all of the previous cases… I have no doubt that I will.

This is really frustrating, I already had everything planned out at UCR… including housing.

some csu’s MITE be able to let you in, because most of them are more “accepting” than ucs, yet again, there are always exceptions.

I have to agree with twilightgirl about the CC route.

So UCR is letting you take summer courses at their campus? then maybe they will not rescind you, because it would be odd for a non-ucr student to enroll in their summer course. Im not sure, but since you said her explanation was vague, i think you should call her, or better, call for a walk in appointment and then get everything settled.

yes it is very frustrating, especially at this point when all the housing is settled, financial aid is given, etc. I went through this exact problem but a month or two earlier, so its all good now.

like i said before, you should personally visit your counselor and talk about it to show your interest and desire to attend for fall 09. Trust me, that might help cuz it did for me, go to the office.

Um, how can you register for housing and summer school if you’re not a UCR incoming freshman? I mean if they are going to rescind your admission, they should’ve already done so right?

Actually CSUSB is still annoying with sending me all this paperwork. They still can take you if you talk to them I think

lol, email them to remove you from their list, thats what i did.

but yea, i applied to around 6 csu’s which many of them still send “last notice” emails like every week. I guess if you were in a urgent situation, a csu would be very beneficial. I talked to one of the counselors at a csu and they not happy with me not SIRing them lol.

One thing i know for sure is that cal poly wont accept more people,

I got in there, but In a sense a cc we come out cheaper but If you dont want to stay at home (like me) then a low tier csu will have to do

The website says that its to late to SIR or apply.

Just call maybe they can give an exception

Would CSUN be considered in those lower tier CSUs?

some what. They have good academics but they take who ever has a heartbeat. They make UCR look like CAL/UCLA

I’m ok with a C in AP physics, right?

I’m getting worried now >_>

your good they want Cs and up

excess classes?
i thought you were allowed to fail those as long as you’ve already met your a-g

yeah, but a D is still a D…

But if you fail enough they think u lost ur academic will

So do you guys think I should call the office or something? What should I say in order to stay in UCR? I got 2 D’s but they were both in Spanish 3 Honors (which is an EXCESS A-G course) so I don’t know what to do. I e-mailed my counselor already and she replied back:

“Your admission could be in jeopardy. We will only waive one D or F grade in any excess A-G course. If you receive more than one D or F grade in any A-G course excess or not, there is a possibility that we could cancel your admission. You will need to meet the UC eligibility index using all of your senior year A-G grades and then it will be reviewed by our director. Students who have D’s in AP or honors courses will have a better chance of staying eligible as long as they met the index.”

So what does this mean for me? Will I get rescinded? Please help, I’m really freaking out here.
