Admission rescinded by UCR

My UCR admission was rescinded , and now it looks like I'm heading to a community college for a while.

As you have probably guessed from my rejection, my GPA is rather low, so I don't qualify for any sort of CC honors programs that will help me transfer.

What classes will I need to take that will enhance my chances of getting into any UC?

why was it rescinded?

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m gonna probably head to SBCC or SMC, dunno. Geez, the lady woke me up at 9 AM on my birthday to give me bad news

so what happened to you guys? i was kinda close to getting the bad news, but ended up doing some extra work.

Had D’s in my 2nd semester for Physics and AP Statistics, two excess courses. =</p>

oww im sorry to hear that, you could have retaken them BEFORE july 15, which is the last day to turn in your final transcripts.

One thing that has changed this year with most of the UC’s is that they are not allowing any “D” makeups during summer school, as long as you clear it somehow whether its indep study, before july 15, you should be ok.

I definately did not know that. I contacted the admissions department about 6 months ago and again last month and she told me that there was no way to make up the courses except by getting a C or better during the school year…

I’m guessing theres no way to make it up now?

wow… really??

no no, she is way wrong, i had a “D” in 2nd semester AP english, yet managed to take it on an online class before the july 15 deadline.
you should contact your admissions counselor at UCR, tell them about your case…As for the AP Stats, did you at least get a 3 on the AP test? scores just came out, a 3 would clear the “D”.

good luck and get back at me if you need any further questions, i know how you feel, i just went through it.

right now… it does seem pretty late, seeing that the 15th deadline is coming up soon, contact the ucr admissions counselor asap and tell them about your situation.

She called me this morning to tell me that my admission was rescinded. I asked her if there was anything I could do and she said no =.

oh, she actually called? i didnt get that, i had to call them…

anyways… im really sorry to hear that. hopefully, something can happen to clear your “Ds”

What I don’t understand is that I contacted them twice during my school year to let them know that I was getting D’s and the counselor didn’t mention anything about allowing me to make it up some other way. I asked her if I could do anything other than raising it during the school year and she said no…

My first semester, I had 1 A (Ap class), 4 C’s (3 AP classes, 1 honors), 1 D (Chinese). I contacted UCR about it and they just said my admission wasn’t in jeopardy. I got a D again this semester in Chinese, but 1 B (AP class), 4 C’s (3 AP classes, 1 honors.)

However, apparently, it wasn’t good enough. Is there a way to appeal?

Was that Chinese class an extra class? cuz if you had met the UC requirements of foreign language, then there is a policy regarding the “D” you got. If it were like an elective, there is a high chance of still being enrolled for the fall. Im guessing the Chinese class was not an AP? cuz a 3 would clear it.

To Yano,

You must have had a really unlucky counselor. I wish this discussion happened months ago!! i would have been able to tell you about independent study, and able to replace the “Ds” you got. Hopefully, you had applied to other csu’s, which is what i did for a backup plan B.

I already met the requirements the previous year. I’m taking Chinese 3 regular.

Yet, I still got the boot from my counselor, Pamela Riley.

I want to know how to appeal their rescindination. Does anyone have any ideas? I wouldn’t even mind having a first year probation since I was planning on working my butt off in college anyways.

Otherwise, if there is no way. Then I’m thinking about the CC route without honors or TAP or TAG. It’s gonna be hard. Is there anyone that’s successfully done this? >_<

im sorry to hear that you got the boot. It would have been nice if you contacted them about it earlier, like when school got out, and enrolled in an online course for chinese to replace your 2nd semester grade. .

about the CC, which one are you heading to?

wow. I got a 2.4 my first semester 4 C( two AP), b( AP GoPo), a F in Pre Cal.
but I got a C (chem AP) B( physic) B (Eng Ap),B(Govt AP) and A(Stats). I sent my final transcript in june and I didn’t get resided( My counselor was Rudy Hernandez he said It didn’t affect me.

ok yeah that’s pretty bad…

I’m guessing at the beginning of the year they might’ve been more lenient because they didn’t have a good idea of how many students would apply?

Also, if they accept you, they can’t rescind for first semester grades…since they saw them before accepting you
