I was browsing the Mcgill.ca website and i found a page that listed the grade and score requirements and prerequisites for particular areas of study, and for all of them, they only require around a B/B+ average (except for architecture and mechanical engineering) and with ACT scores of around 26/27. That's pretty low, in my opinion. Are they lying to us? Or is this true? because if this is so, with my B+ average and a 28 composite score on the SATs, i think i can get in..
especially since i'm planning to go into the Sciences (biological)
Should i trust what they say?

Just to let you know, those are the minimums for admissions. So if someone were to have lower statistics than those that they have posted for the various programs, I’m sure they would just toss them in the rejected pile. Those numbers do not mean that if you have better statistics they will automatically accept you.

Those numbers may fluctuate by as much as 5%. The only time that you’ll manage to be admitted with minimum numbers, is if every other applicant is barely eligible, which will not happen because Mcgill annually receives as many applications as Harvard. Remember, Mcgill is purely a numbers school, they don’t care about your ECs, recs, rank, and so on… all they want are excellent numbers/scores.

Exactly what numbers are they looking for then? At what numbers would you be safe to conclude “I probably will get in”

Is it just SATs, GPA, and ACTs? What else is there that they consider as far as numbers / scores are considered

Will taking French for 4 years help you to get in?

Taking French courses in high school will not necessarily help your chances of admission to McGill but it will help you appreciate Montreal.

i think youd be safe with a 4.0 and 34, but other than that there is no ‘safe’. yes youre number are good enough to get in, but depending on the makeup of the students that apply to the same program, it may not be good enough. there is no way to know. i do think you have good numbers though and a good chance of getting in, cross your fingers.
