admission status question,, PLEASE !

FSU Status Question-
Currently, my FSU Fall 2012 admission status page states-

“An admission decision will be available on December 14, 2011 at 12:00 AM.”

I have read from another web site that FSU has somewhat of a modified rolling admissions process since it would be nearly impossible to review 35,000 applications from Nov 17 ( deadline) to December 14 ( acceptance date). According to the other web site, if your completed application states,
“An admission decision will be available on December 14, 2011 at 12:00 AM.”, then you are in.
Anyone else hear about this ? Thanks David

It says the same thing on my daughter’s admission status. We were told at the tour orientation that 12/14 is THE day to find out the decision…nothing cryptic. There is no rolling admissions. Friends of mine with kids at FSU said things were quite hectic on the website at midnight last year so be prepared!

Actually the decisions were available on the website last year well before midnight. If I remember correctly, around 5:30 to 6:00PM was when we saw the acceptance message.

Check early, check often, and remember to file your housing application immediately to get a nice low priority number.

I found out around 6:00pm last year, so check earlier than midnight! AND - put down your housing deposit RIGHT AWAY as this gets you a good priority number.

You are not IN if your status says this. EVERYONE’s status says this once their application is complete. It means you got your stuff in by the deadline and you will hear on the first date. Those who did not get everything in by the deadline will eventually get a message that says their decision will be available by the March deadline.

While FSU may get 35,000 applications, they do not get 35,000 by the early deadline. No way. They might get 10,000-15,000.

You application is complete, and by midnight that day you can see if your are in. And yes, you can start checking by 6pm because some folks find out earlier than midnight. BUT last year, someone who posted here signed in early, checked housing and they were able to register, but because it was early they WERE NOT assigned a priority number. And after a few days of trying to figure out their number, it was determined that they registered early and did not get one assigned. They were then manually given a number by housing. But instead of settling for a number of 1000 or so, they got one that was 3000. So be careful not to try for a housing priority number too early. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university/1045655-fsu-housing-accepted-dds-application-hurry-go-fill-yours-out.html?highlight=priority</a></p>

FSU is not on any kind of rolling admission at all. There is the December date and whatever the spring date is. I asked the admissions office and the registrars office this question last year when waiting on my daughter’s admission.

when you get accepted, do they also inform you about any scholarships you would have gotten from the university?

^Yes. Scholarship awards show up on Blackboard[/url”>https://campus.fsu.edu/webapps/login/bb_bb60/logincas.jsp?service=https%3A%2F%2Fcampus.fsu.edu%2Fwebapps%2Flogin%2F]Blackboard.

My status page only shows personal and app information. Nothing about when a decision will be reached. I submitted my app well before the deadline. Is this a problem???

I have a question about the housing deposit…

My S applied for the Dec15 decision date which is a requirement for the music program as you will not get an audition date until accepted by the University. Thing is, if he doesn’t get into the Music program, he likely wouldn’t attend FSU.

Just worried that he’d have rather slim pickings for housing options if he waits until getting a decision from the music program which comes in at the second decision date? He’s hoping for Cawthon.

If your child ultimately decides not to attend the deposit will be refunded as long as you notify them prior to the acceptance deadline.

Nice to know! Thanks!
