Hi! I am a high school senior considering CofC for next year. I love the Charleston and the people in the school, but the only concern I have is the admission into other medical schools from CofC besides MUSC. I have been admitted to the Honors College and also the William Aikens Fellows Society as background info about me. Is it hard to get accepted to top-notch private med schools from CofC? Any input would be much appreciated!

May I ask what you decided? I am in an identical situation right now (Accepted into CofC Honors and William Aiken Fellows Society but wondering if a more prestigious university would open more doors for medical school). Thanks!
The university you attend doesn’t really have a factor for med school more so your gpa, classes you’ve taken, MCAT score, extracurriculars, etc. Cofc has an amazing relationship with MUSC but they do have a wall of med school that other students have gotten into including Princeton, Tulane, UCLA, USC, etc. I’m a current WAF at Cofc (I turned down Wake Forest, Tulane, and others) and they really prepare you for med school applications. The pre-med advising here is amazing and they hose several events with med schools throughout the year. Please stop looking at prestige that honestly does not matter for med school admission as much as you think. That’s a narrow minded viewpoint. Cofc also doesn’t guarantee admission into MUSC which is what the original person sort of assumed. It seems that you guys don’t really know how med school admissions work and I encourage you to google that. Med school is hard to get into period and depends on YOUR preparation not where you’re getting your undergrad degree for a 4 year school. Also note that Cofc is a top Fulbright producing college especially within the Honors College. You won’t get the relationship with a med school at other colleges where you can do research there as a freshman or volunteer at their hospital. Honors also has above 50% or so of its students studying abroad throughout their four years.
