Hi, I would like to know about what are the admission rates to summer programs such as Harvard, Brown, Columbia, and NYU. As a sophomore right now and not knowing what I should do during the summer, I was considering one of these programs but I'm unsure whether to waste my parents money on applying. One other questions I had on this topic are whether you are committed to any of these programs once you are accepted? Thank You.

Most people who apply get into the summer programs based on college campuses that are introductions to that college. That's marketing (and utilization of otherwise unused space), so the colleges have little reason to refuse applicants unless they plainly don't have enough space. They ration spaces in the summer programs more by setting high list prices than by setting stringent admission requirements. (Apply for financial aid if you need it.)

Most programs accept kids with a B+ average, so no, not too selective. No, you are not committed to attend.

thanks for the replies. just some additional questions
a) I'm looking at the Harvard SSP with a lot of interest and I was wondering is it possible for me to get accepted with a 91.7 average and 90 percentile on my psat as a sophomore?
b) Looking at the tuition of that, its about $~9000, would I be able to get some and I hope enough financial aid since my parents make about $25-30k a year. Thanks

sry, Patrick, no knowledge of Harvard's program.

I think you should go for any program, since it is only your sophomore year. It will make your aplication stand out more.
