Admission Video

A student posted this link on the student boards, but I thought parents might be interested too.

http://pbs-newshour.virage.com/cgi-...0...&submit=Search

Link didn't work for me.

Sorry Over30. I've asked the mods if they can fix the link--it shows it right when I copy it, AND when I type it, but when posted it is missing ellipses after the &

But try this: Go to the original post.
I found the original post under New Posts, thread title Excellent Video On Admissions at Elite Schools, on the College Admissions board. (Guess you could just go to College Admissions!) THANK YOU to Neobez for finding this.

http://pbs-newshour.virage.com/cgi-bin/visearch?user=pbs-newshour&template=template.html&query=amherst&viKeyword=amherst&category=0&submit=Search

that should do the trick

Thank you so much, Neobez! MUCH better!

Parents, this is a PBS report that follows the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at LAC Amherst, and the admission staff, through the admission process of three students. It touches on such things as ECs, the weight of grades and tests, legacy and athletic decisions--the sorts of things that are often talked about around here. Hope it works for everyone now.

Yes, I think you would find it all very interesting over here...

I thought the video was great- very interesting and very informative. I think that all applicants and parents should watch the video as it helps to put the application process into perspective especially when it comes down to the stats question.

I wondred what they did with essays. Did the person presenting read any parts of essay? Or, were they only read by the initial 2 people?

I found this video incredibly interesting -- Makes me wish an admiss officer at Georgetown vigorously defended me during one of those meetings :-P

wow interesting video
