I’m currently starting an Anime Club with my friends, and I’m wondering if admissions would care about how populated it is/the activities that go on within the club. Would they not care at all, considering it’s just an Anime Club? What if it we did something newsworthy?
OOPS, SENT IT WAY TOO EARLY ON ACCIDENT. Admissions and Starting Clubs** for the title, and I wanted to also know if you guys had any luck with starting your own clubs! Whoops.
I think that any brand new club started by a Senior 8 months before he or she graduates is going to look like an obvious attempt to pad a weak resume.
Especially an Anime club.
Maybe it would be better to call it a “Anime and Societal Ethics” club.
Ah, well, I’m a sophomore and my school just opened this year. Do you guys think that would change anything? Maybe they’d think I’m opportunistic.
@JustOneDad We considered calling it East Asian Pop Culture Appreciation club but we weren’t sure if that’d turn off prospective members.
If your school just opened, and you’re a sophomore, than that does change my answer quite a bit.
But I’ve got to ask: why ask HERE? If it’s something you’re interested in doing, then do it, regardless of whether or not it improves your admission changes.
If you’d enjoy it, do it.
As a sophomore, it won’t seem like you’re only doing it for colleges.
If you just meet up after school and watch anime, it’s probably not going to get too much attention b/c it seems like more of an interest/pastime. If you can find a more meaningful way to operate the club though, then in might get a little more attention.
if you do anything notable? (I don’t know how. maybe make your own anime design or something) that would be worth writing and it’ll be good. otherwise don’t worry about it too much
