Admissions and transferring?

I have a few questions about admissions and transferring.

If I apply to a school and get accepted, then instead attend a state school with the intention of reapplying to the same school and transfer after my sophomore year, would this affect anything? I cannot attend the institution for all 4-5 years due to financial reasons.

Same scenario–but what if I was rejected the first time around? If I performed very well my first two years at the state school and reapplied to the other school, do you think it would be possible to transfer successfully?

Anyone? :-h

First, you should know that transfer students rarely get merit aid so that has to be factored in.
Second, it is hard to predict the success of transfer applications. It varies school to school.
Third, (unsolicited advice) I personally think it is a bad idea to attend a college with the hope of leaving in 2 years. This could keep you back from a lot of things including getting involved in things on campus, making close friends etc. and you can’t predict if a transfer will work out or not. I’d go to the school with the intention of staying and see how things go.

I’ve read on the forums that schools keep application files for more than four years so they will have your initial app. As to how they will feel in either case (you were admitted/not and didn’t attend), who knows?
