How holistic are the admissions at Bowdoin? I am just curious because I don’t know how much of a chance I’ll stand even if I get my ACT up. Thanks!

78% holistic.

^^^^^awesome

Guess what. Submitting standardized tests to Bowdoin is optional.

I knew they were, but I would really prefer get up into the 30’s and submit, since so few people decide not to submit.

Even if you do submit an ACT score, similar to most LACs, they look at the entire candidate, not just numbers. They really like seeing an upward grade trend and a few ECs that show passion and commitment. They want to see how YOU are going to make their college a better place.
Still, this does not mean that grades and testing does not matter.

don’t submit unless you have strong scores. if you do submit, they consider the scores with the same scrutiny as any other top LAC without a test-optional policy. the policy exists to allow you some control over how you present yourself, not to suggest that, should you apply with low scores, those scores will somehow be overlooked.
