My AFA counselor recently told me “Your file has been before the panel twice now. It will not go again .but It is always being checked electronically for improvements. The two areas you can improve your file is in the activities area and retesting (ACT/SAT).”

I wrote back and asked if that meant it would not even go back in March when most of the appointments are given. He has not answered yet. Does anyone know?

When did you complete your file? I want to see if I am in the seame boat you are in. I just re-took my ACT in December, and plan on updating my EC section soon.

I didn't ask for the information. I emailed my civilian counselor (as listed on my web app page) to ask him to add varsity basketball captain to my resume. He offered the info. I asked in return if the addition of varsity captain would put me before the board again. He did not reply.

It is listed in the very first section - the one labeled "Application Status." It is listed as USAFA Counselor and is right before Local Liason Officer.

Since your file has been reviewd 2x, that means you already updated it 1x. This might include your BBall and that is why they had no response about it.

Keep retaking the SAT, you may or may not already be put in the pool. I.E. the MOC slate has been scored and you were not the highest, but high enough for the pool and that is why they want more info.

Since you state your file was completed in Sept, what is your nom source? I don't know of any MOC slate that is filled that early. Are you trying to get in only under a Pres?

Oh, I didn't think that you had to have your nom to be complete. The online application has said complete since early September. My first nomination didn't come until early December.

bulletandpima - Do you know if my application will go before the board again in March or whenever the appointees are chosen from the pool?

Yes a nom is a requirement to be appt., thus you can't go up until you have a nom. You can get an LOA b/c your record is great, but you need a nom for an appt.

You are given a WCS, everytime you add more important info, you will get re-scored for that area, i.e, new SAT your PAR score can change, capt of bball your EC can change. Re-take the CFA and that can change.

It depends on how many noms you have and if you make the pool. The pool is in Feb timeframe since mass mailing is march. Don't fret, appts come out through April from candidates that reject. It should not matter how you get in, just that you get in!

I'll take it one step further...appointments can come out all the way up to reporting day!

Case in point; one of my classmates received his appointment the week we reported!

Good thing too...because in 1984 (we graduated in 1983) 2Lt Alonzo Babers won two gold medals for the USA at the Olympics before he went to pilot training!
