Admissions Chances?

I just recently decided I would apply to IU (officially applied April 5th). My dad suffered from a stroke in August and I wasn’t sure I was ready to leave him, seeing that my parents are divorced and I am his sole caretaker (which I explained in full in my essay). I have a 4.65 weighted GPA and an 1140 SAT, and an extremely strong letter of recommendation from my counselor. I’ve gotten into Missouri and Oklahoma but I’m not sure on my chances at IU because I’m applying so late. Anyone think I have a chance?

Are you in-state? Did you call admissions to ask?

I don’t know how many spots IU saves for people applying this late. The good news for you is that GPA is definitely the number 1 thing IU values, so you might have a chance.

If not able for the Fall could you wait a semester and apply for a Spring admission? Might be an option to consider given your caretaker status.
