If what they say about accepting the best first is true, I’ll let you guys know if they accept me next week.
Someone posted something similar to this deep in a thread last year. Thought I’d post the updated relevant one for this year’s applicants in case anyone else is interested.

@fluffylumpkins - So this would be a comparison report for people admitted to August 2015 academic year …? The report seems to be generated on Sept 14th 2015.
These are the most recent data available. It’s a comparison of # applicants for each major/admitted/paid enrollment fees for the dates of 9/14/14 vs 9/13/15. So I don’t think this is a chart of applicants admitted to the class of 2015, rather it’s simply a chart of applicants on those dates. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Regardless, the trends seen here are probably applicable to this year’s applicants for each major listed. It’s unlikely, for instance, that the admit rate for engineering of 44.3% last year would suddenly jump to 80% this year. Also, if engineering is a 44.3% admit rate, it stands to reason that another major or majors has a greater than 53% acceptance rate to even out at the general 53% university acceptance rate. Just another tool to get an idea of what majors are more or less difficult to get accepted into is all.
Oh whoops I applied for public health and they accept way less people percent wise
So am I correct in assuming Art and Sciences is hardest to get into because of the numbers? No matter the program?..
My son was admitted (per updated status online) last year right after thanksgiving–to the dept of engineering. The buckeyelink website was updated about 2 weeks before we got the letter snail mail. Good luck to all!
I checked and my son was admitted (per updated status online) last year on Friday November 21, which was the weekend before Thanksgiving. His online status changed to “Decision Made” and when he clicked it he saw “Acceptance” to the program he applied to. Happened around 7 pm. The start of release of decisions sometime change from year to year, but there is a good chance the first decisions will be released after close of business this Friday November 20.
@trackmbe3 - Which program did your son apply to?
Fisher college of business.
My daughter was accepted last year in the first round of decisions which was Friday November 21. They weren’t released till sometime that evening. She was accepted for chemical engineering.
@multirick - Thank you. Did your daughter get accepted directly into the college of engineering? or did they admit her into the university then the college of engineering? Did your daughter hear about any of the merit scholarships with the admission acceptance decision? Or did the scholarships information come after the fact in mail ? I have applied to BME program hence these specific questions.
My son has applied for Biomedical Science Major, Are there any advantages of BME over BioMedical Science? He wants to go to med school. Still wondering if he can finish Engineering and then go to Med School.
@Pras2016 - It was personal choice. Biomedical science is geared more towards research while BME would have better job prospects, if things change with med school. Again, what would you want to be doing if plans change after undergrad, etc…
Would we find out if we got merit scholarship the same time we get our admissions decision or is that later?
@VaishS I got accepted to a college the first week of November…I found out scholarships two weeks later. It may be like that for most colleges because they have to coordinate acceptances with the financial office. However, that was also earlier, so there was more time for colleges to play around with scholarship info.
Last Fall, the first batch of merit aid scholarship notifications (National Buckeye, Maximus, Provost, Trustee) to accepted applicants came by letter starting in late December and continued every few weeks thereafter. These award notifications came a few weeks after the official letter of acceptance. And the official letter of acceptance came a few weeks after the portal changed from “Evaluation” to Acceptance.
Last year my son got the national buckeye scholarship but we didn’t get the scholarship award letter until late February. It appeared that the students with besf SATs/ACTs were awarded first and then in waves of descending order.
Very happy he got the $ though.
Has anyone heard their decision yet?
DS just checked his tracker and it went from “Evaluation” to “Admitted” and when he clicked on the hyperlink it displayed the following message: “Congratulations, you have been admitted to Ohio State! You will receive your notice of admission and acceptance fee statement soon.”
Good luck to everyone. Son is an out-of-state applicant who submitted his common application on September 11.
