My friend got accepted with a 25 act on Friday so no one give up hope.
@soyunchico instate
@jaycbee my school doesn’t rank (but I wouldn’t be in the top quarter, although I go to a great district in-state) and I was accepted with a 3.6 and a 29 ACT on Friday. I also had A LOT of extra curriculars, but if she meets the stats I think she’ll be okay.
@Netwillow I hope you hear some good news soon…when did she apply?
Thank you @jaybee! She applied October 18th. I assumed with being National Honors Society, volunteer helping younger orchestras, spent her Summer doing yardwork for a disabled couple, works part time at a restaurant, a leader in music and captain in a sport that would be diverse enough but apparently not enough to stand out. Maybe they are looking more for race/ethnicity diversity? We are white in a single parent home. It’s taken some of the wind out of our sails unfortunately. : (
I was accepted yesterday with Poli sci as an intended Major, I’m still waiting on a couple of colleges but I’m definitely pretty happy.
GPA: 4.2 W
ACT: 34
SAT:1420
Out of State
Eagle scout, NHS vice president, Orchestra section leade, state medaling double bassist, and a handful of other clubs.
@jaycbee I’m feeling similar to you. My daughter’s app was actually complete Sept. 28 and she did not hear in the first round. Many of her friends did. She also had 4 AP last year and 4 AP this year, getting many B+ and A-. She had a 3.75 when she applied and she’s a hair over the top 20%, literally like 20.5% or top 21%. However, she has friends that took straightaway college prep classes and few honors, but because they got all A’s, their GPAs are higher. Go figure. I too am hoping they look past the actual number and see how much she challenged herself. I also hope she hears in the next round. She’s gotten 3 acceptances already, but OSU high on the list, and she has a huge about of extracurriculars, NHS, etc.
@jaycbee You should find out who is your daughter’s regional admissions officer and contact him or her to ask your questions. The regional admissions officer for the part of Ohio where you live should be familiar with your daughter’s high school (and the fact that it does not weight honors courses) and the range of stats for students who get accepted. He or she should be able to answer your questions and give you an idea of your daughter’s chances. Ohio State looks holistically at a number of factors for admissions. The factors are listed on its website. Assuming your daughter has good extracurricular activities along with her rigorous course load should help her chances.
@Zbassguy Wait you were accepted on Saturday? I thought decisions only came out on Fridays
My son was admitted. I had checked on the 18th about a hundred times and it was always evaluation. I went to his football game that night so hadn’t checked since about 5pm but then I checked at midnight before going to bed and he was admitted. ChemEng. 3.9 uw, 29 act. He was so happy he was crying … Ive never been more proud. Good luck to all.
Sorry, I checked my App Early Friday morning and was still bring evaluated, and then checked again Saturday afternoon and was admitted. I had just assumed I had been accepted on Saturday.
It has been over a day since I got accepted and I still haven’t gotten an admissions email. Should I email them about that or not worry about it.
@madman1923 don’t worry about it, I had to wait awhile as well. Just keep checking your junk or spam folders in addition to your inbox. You’ll get one. I had to wait about a day but also remember that today is Sunday and they have quite a bit of emails to send out so I would assume sometime this week you’ll get one
Don’t forget that there is a facebook group you can join for the class of 2021. Some have already started joining!! Congrats to everyone and good luck to those still waiting. You got this!
can someone post the link of the Facebook group because there are like 5 when I look it up

This is the one I am in, I’m not sure about the others because you’re right, there’s a bunch of different ones
@Netwillow Your D has some great credentials - I’m sure she will get in, it will just take some time. We are in the same boat, no diversity, with similar sports (captain) and music involvement, nhs, wgpa is 3.75 and act is 29, so I would imagine D will be deferred too, but hopefully not too long
@tasmith98 @hsgradco2017 could one of you pm me the link?
Accepted on Friday. Excited to be the first buckeye of my family. 28act 4.0 gpa at a nationally recognized high school and top 3 high school in the state. Little known component that goes into admission decisions according to an admission officer: The rigor of your high school combined with your gpa is one of the most indicative elements of a stuedents capability.
