Admissions Decisions Class of 2021

Yep still waiting, under evaluation, but still hopeful and optimistic and waiting for the Friday after next for the next round of decisions. I believe@OHTocollege that decisions have until mid January to post.

@CavalierZachBuckeye whenever I go to login it says it doesn’t recognize my username? What should I do! I changed my email so it goes to my personal email but will that forward past emails too?

That’s what I was wondering too! I followed his directions but it wouldn’t log me into my buckeye email so i tried to change the password but it said my email isn’t registered yet.

I was concerned because in the other thread @osuprof posted a link to admissions statistics showing 6558 already admitted and the class of 2017 is appx 7500? although I realize admitted doesn’t mean enrolled.

It takes about 15 mins for the email switch to take effect.

According to the link that what appeared to be an OSU prof posted earlier today, looks like 6,558 kids were accepted out of the 34,783 who applied as first year students to Columbus campus.

Last year Ohio State accepted about 24,000 students to Columbus campus and just under 8,000 enrolled.

@CavalierZachBuckeye will all my past emails sent to my buckeyemail transfer to my personal email? Or will I have to log into my buckeyemaul to see past emails

@saillakeerie Unless i’m reading it wrong, the admissions pct. according to that document is around 18%, well below the general average for prior years. The issue with this observation is that we are effectively assuming that the 82% who did not get admitted will not be reviewed for later admissions decisions.

Still waiting to hear back on @osuprof if this is the case. Otherwise, an 18% acceptance rate vs. the previous year’s 49% acceptance rate seems to be a huge drop.

@CavalierZachBuckeye Thanks so much for the help, my buckeye email was just registered after waiting for 15 minutes. Should I be getting anything else other than an email on my buckeye email saying my buckeye email was created? I mean, am I supposed to be getting an email congratulating me or will that come later in the mail? Also, will I be checking my buckeye email for scholarship notifications later in December or my regular email account? I also noticed I now have the option to Accept/Decline the offer by OSU on the portal.

Do I need buckeyemail?

To everyone still waiting on a decision: Just because you weren’t accepted on Friday doesn’t mean anything. Decisions will continue to come out (next might be in two Fridays) so don’t worry! Just because you have high stats doesn’t mean you should’ve heard first…I’m not sure how they are deciding to admit or decline or defer applicants, it could just be random!

To those wondering about their email: Go to OSU’s admissions page. Click on the tab that says something like “Admitted Students” then “What to do next” then you should be able to see how to set up your email. Such information could also come to the junk folder in your personal email (it did to me). After setting up my email, the same email in my personal junk file appeared in my Buckeye mail, so no, you won’t miss anything.

To those wondering about accepting/declining your admission: I was admitted around 6 on Friday night and just now received my notice to either accept and pay or to decline. This takes between 3-5 days to become updated on your Applicant Portal, so don’t worry, yours is coming!

So, everyone take a deep breath and do not worry about anything. I also believe scholarships and awards will start coming out sometime next month (correct me if I’m wrong), and then Honors/Scholars/Morrill decisions will start coming out sometime in January, as well as financial aid information (at least that’s what I was told).

Don’t worry guys! Everything will be okay! And remember, GO BUCKS!!!

Some large portion of that 82% who did not get admitted WILL be reviewed for later admission decisions. The only ones who won’t are the ones who have already received a rejection.

Last year they received about 50k applications. At this point in the year last year, they had received about 33k applications. Assuming the same number this year, there are still about15k applications to be received. I would expect that they would re-evaluate all applications once regular decision applications have been received. That means some of the kids who have not yet been accepted may well get accepted at some point going forward. I would expect final acceptance rates will be about the same as they have been historically.

Enrollment and acceptance is difference. Enrollment is those finally got in for OSU. Acceptance is those who got offer.

If I have a 31 act, can I count on getting the national buckeye or is it still a tossup?

@chickennuggets12 I’m pretty sure they will be sent to buckeyemail.

@BuckeyeGuy2021 now that you have been accepted you will receive a letter by mail a week or two afterwards. Yes, you should check your new buckeyemail very often as scholarships and other important info will be sent to you through the year.

Somebody posted the link for a GroupMe that was created!!

I am still in evaluation, but almost every one of my friends at my school heard back on Friday. They all applied about the same time as I did, and I keep trying to tell myself it’s okay that I didn’t hear back, but I can’t help being a little bit worried. I have a 31 on the ACT, many many ECs (though I couldn’t list any more than 10 on the common app), 5 APs and lots of honors classes, pretty decent essays, a solid letter of rec, and while my GPA and class rank arent anything fantastic, they aren’t that horrible either (3.85 W, 3.6-3.7 or so UW and top 21%, competitive high school). Really really hoping I hear back during the next wave… I wish we could know what determines the order they release admissions decisions!

A coworker’s son just got an email that he was accepted (must not have checked the website earlier) with a 23 ACT, top 10% and unweighted GPA of 3.9.
