Admissions Decisions Class of 2021

Has anyone OOS heard about the National Buckeye scholarship? Son was accepted 11/18 and we are waiting to hear.

@ac2680 I was accepted the same day and I still have not heard about the scholarship.

@lilcollege101 I’m waiting with pretty much the same stats as you, different major and I am in state. Are you in state? What was your class rank and weighted GPA, if you don’t mind the question.

@ac2680 they won’t be coming out till end of Feb or early March

Will tomorrow be the last wave of early action?

Anyone know if 29 ACT is the hard cutoff for National Buckeye? Will they make an exception with high GPA, class rank, strong ECs, but below 29 ACT?

I believe my weighted is around 3.7 because even though I took 6 honors classes through high school (the only ones that were offered) they weren’t weighted. I didn’t include my class rank because I go to the Olentangy District and its ranked in the state, so I am only in the top 40%. I am in state. @jaycbee

@jaycbee my gpa only includes up to my junior year, so the college courses I am taking will bump my weighted up a lot. I sent my mid year transcript in. Since I take college courses at another college other than my high school, I am not sure what my current updated weighted gpa is.

I have known people who have below a 29 to get in it. Most of them however, are ethnic. @STEM2017

@lilcollege101 We are in the same boat, at Olentangy which doesn’t weight honors classes. I think Olentangy does a disservice to its students by not bumping up honors classes. That would make a big difference in your class rank (and mine), and seems to be something OSU values, based on the results in this forum. Will update here once I find out OSU’s decision which I’m sadly expecting to be a deferral too.

@ac2680 Earlier in this thread someone said they called OSU and they said they were doing merit scholarships a little differently this year. Said it would be end of January/February before they notify people.

@drjdillon I called yesterday and they said end of February to early march so we shall see haha

@soyunchico It gets later every time someone calls I guess! Crazy. Hopefully they will do it sooner rather than later. Attendance decisions are definitely riding on scholarships!

Does anyone know when the last wave for EA is coming out?

I emailed them today, they said there are two more waves. One in mid Jan and one in late Jan.

@soyunchico thanks for the information. Waiting until March will be torture!
@STEM2017 last year the minimum ACT score for the Buckeye scholarship was a 28. We know several students who had a 28 and didn’t receive the buckeye. It will be interesting to see how it works out this year since they raised the minimum to 29. My son has a 30 & I’m worried he won’t get it.

Here’s hoping we all get good news!

@cartidge oh gosh that makes me so nervous that I won’t hear until the end of January

I’m assuming with the information given that it is going to be this Friday and Friday the 27th

Next question: Is it Buckeye or nothing? Are there awards given below the Buckeye level?

Just an update! I just got an email saying I was accepted into the honors program
