You were absolutely correct. I called OSU and asked them about the application and apparently my guidance counselor had waited until after the deadline to submit my transcript. They said that if I get the counselor to call up and tell them that it wasn’t my doing that they would still consider my application for early action.
@afluffymuffin Wow, I’m glad you called good luck!!!
Will any decisions be coming out today?
I got accepted today!!!.
ACT-27
GPA-3.88UW, 4.6W
9 AP classes
@buckeyemom17 i emailed admissions and they said that only EA applicants are eligible for the merit-based scholarships i personally feel like this is a bit unfair since my stats actually meet the criteria… and some people who received these scholarships might not even decide to enroll…
Okay. Originally my son did not get accepted. yesterday we go a call from Admissions stating they reviewed my sons app and I guess changed their minds. He was offered acceptance. They said they made a mistake. has this happened to anyone?
@tiredhuman Yoi should have applied by the merit deadline like everyone else. Nothing unfair about it.
@itsgettingreal17 i didn’t have the chance to do so because my ACT scores were late. it just kinda hurts that there are some people who may deserve those scholarships but couldn’t even be considered, imo.
Universities have a large number of applications to review. To keep that process orderly, they need to set deadlines. No doubt they are arbitrary. But they are necessary. If you app is considered for the scholarship, what about the person who didn’t apply at all because they knew their app would be completed a day or two late? They may well have been qualified for the scholarship as well. Its the nature of setting deadlines. Balancing the necessity of an orderly process with being flexible.
Does anyone know if only certain kids get the GoBuckeye travel grant??
@jr28wiss No idea. But my D did.
Has everyone who applied early action gotten a decision yet? Because I’m almost 100% sure I applied by the deadline and I still haven’t gotten a decision.
I applied early action (at least I think I did, it says application date 11/01/2016 and the other materials followed through quickly- the latest being 11/03/2016, I’m at international applicant some things arrived later). Also, they did email me in late December asking for my certificates and I sent that early January. All items have been received by the way.
I remember them saying I will get a decision by mid January, but it’s already the 31st and my application status is still in ‘evaluation’. Should I email them asking if I got moved to the regular decision?
I got the email for the travel grant. I wonder if it’s only for scholarship kids (I received the Morrill scholarship)
Call them. I was 100% sure as well. Turns out my transcript was late due to my guidance counselor.
To anyone wondering their status, I would encourage you to call admissions. I have called several times for different reasons and they have always been more than happy to help. I’ve never once felt that I was bothering anyone with my questions.
Anyone hear about national buckeye and provost yet? and for those who have heard about merit scholarships, has your portal been updated???
Paid D’s acceptance fee today even though we are still waiting on scholarship info (Provost) and Honor’s College decision. She’s already lining up roommates and wants first dibs on newer dorms.
When is housing? Do we start that process as soon as we accept?
“Housing contracts are emailed to BuckeyeMail accounts beginning mid-March in the order acceptance fees are received. Housing assignments are sent beginning mid-July.” The Facebook page for admitted students class of 2021 is pretty active with postings already of students seeking roommates.
