Admissions Decisions

I submitted my application pretty close to the deadline, however, it now says that the Admissions decision is currently reviewing my application. Does it say this for everyone at this point? Since I submitted it pretty late, I thought I'd get a decision by the end of March-ish. Once it says they are reviewing your application, however, how long does it take to get decision?

It’ll be by the end of March when they make decisions if you aren’t top 10%. They send them in batches in March…

xcellerator: that too has been my experience; daughter was notified in mid to late march last spring of her acceptance; she was not top 10%.

okay thank you! :] and does this include out of state students? or would that be even later?

That should include OOS students too.

Actually I believe decisions are issued any time between now and March. I’m OOS from NY and I got an acceptance into the College of Arts and Sciences and into the liberal arts honors program about a week ago… I’d say keep checking the portal, your answer might be up sooner than you think!

Okay thank you everyone! Now I can just stop stressing about it lol. Evan524—when did you submit your application? How long did it take for an admissions decision to be made? And congratulations, btw =) I’m from NY too and I’d love to go to UT Austin

UT does not have a College of Arts and Sciences

I meant the College of Liberal Arts not arts and sciences… but anyways I applied in mid November. I heard back in about a month, so I’m thinking it might have to do with either my status as a legacy or maybe just my numbers… I heard back from Wisconsin within three weeks.

Status as a legacy? That won’t help you at all. Just think how many “legacies” there are at Texas! If my son goes, he will be the fourth generation in our family.

I love that- legacy…I wish I helped!

I’m from a school in Texas that does not rank its students, and I submitted my application on October 1. I expected to get my decision in March, but I got my decision on December 10.

So you never know, just keep checking :)

thanks everyone =) i’ll keep checking just in case…and yeah, i was under the impression that being a legacy was pretty meaningless in admissions at ut (which is pretty annoying, since i am a legacy, haha) since SO many applicants are probably legacies at a school like ut.

Does that mean decisions come at different times if you are in top 10%?

Actually it is stated in the top 10% law that legacy status cannot be considered when reviewing applications. There is no place on the Texas Common Application where one can list legacy status…trust me…we searched when my daughter applied…
