thank you
My son applied to tOSU also. I didn’t realize decisions could come out so early.
OOS (Michigan)
Caucasian/Indian male
Engineering Major
3.93 UW GPA
1470 SAT (best math is 790, best English 700)
5AP/2 dual enrollment/1 honors
Crew/ Rowing, Band, Tennis, NHS, paid employment, volunteering, AP scholar
Does anyone know how to view admissions status? (I want to change a thing—apparently because I put both my parent’s addresses on there, they think I’m an OOS student.)
I went through the whole process with the BuckeyeLink thing and security things.
Sons stats are as follows…
Out of state applicant
Weighted GPA 5.4 out of 6, unweighted GPA 3.8
SAT 1470 (760 math, 710 RW)
Competitive high school that does not rank
1 AP Junior year Apush 5 (freshman and sophomores do not take AP) and 4 this year (Stats, Econ, Psych, Spanish)
NHS, Captain of varsity basketball team, 9 summers spent at a camp with a tremendous amount of diversity that scholarships underprivileged kids including 500 volunteer hours there, Frederick Douglas and Susan B Anthony Award sponsored by University of Rochester for commitment to social activism
Applied 10/14 to Fisher School of Business and also applied for Morrill Scholarship
Last year DD was accepted on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Hoping for the same this year for my son.
Applied 10/25
OOS - Illinois
Major: CS
ACT: 36
Weighted GPA: 4.5, UW GPA 3.97
11 AP Classes including 3 in Senior Year
A couple of ECs: Band and Computer Club
Pretty sure will get in but really need to know what - if any - OOS scholarships will be offered. DD got her scholarship info late Dec or early Jan last year. In all honesty he wants to go to Illinois for CS but since admissions there is such a crap-shoot he needs some options. Maybe he will change his mind as well especially if he gets some decent $$.
Good luck to all.
@class22and23 He’ll get the National Buckeye Scholarship at the very least with those stats.
Good luck!
@equationlover you should be able to log in here https://webauth.service.ohio-state.edu/idp/profile/SAML2/Redirect/SSO?execution=e1s2 to view your application status
@heading2college7 I figured it out. I just don’t understand why I was classified as a non-resident.

Letter of rec: 10/10, my guidance consoler read it and said it was awesome
Downsides to app: had to drop AP physics 1 and failed honors precalc but took it again. This was due to medical circumstances, I had my GC talk about it in her LOR.
I also applied for Morrill Scholars, I’ve done a lot of work/outreach for minority groups, so I think I’m pretty competitive for it.
Does anyone know if OSU considers campus visits/contact with the university as a part of the admissions process? My Naviance (if anyone knows what that is) says OSU considers this as a factor but I’ve heard otherwise. I’m curious because I am an out of state applicant for the class of 2023 and I have had contact with OSU and done a couple official campus visits.
@oj2018 Look at their common data set.
They do not track demonstrated interest.
@collegemom9 where did you hear that? I was hoping they would
I submitted on 10/31. Is it possible that I’ll get my decision on the 16th? (presumably when the first round is released)
@heading2college7, as stated by @equationlover above, that information would normally be found in Ohio State’s common data set. If you look at the entries in box C7, it identifies the various factors that OSU considers for freshman admission, including their relative importance. Consistent with @collegemom9’s statement above, the very last box in that grid identifies that OSU does not consider the “Level of applicant’s interest” which would mean that for admission purposes, OSU does not consider demonstrated interest. This does not mean that OSU does not track interest for purpose of assessing the effectiveness of its outreach efforts; however, it does mean that such interest would play no role in whether an applicant is granted admission.
Here the most recent Common Data Set published by OSU:

How long did it take everyone’s application to update with all materials? I know they said 10 days, but I’m waiting in anticipation as the November 1st deadline was for all engineering majors. They apparently have everything except my high school transcript and fee waiver.
@equationlover I sent my SAT scores in last (after I submitted my other materials) using rush-shipping and it took about a week for my application to update to confirm that everything was completed. They probably already have your material. I think it takes longer for the BuckeyeLink accounts to update information, especially around this time when everyone else sent in their materials too.
@ScrubStudent , in the threads from the past 2 years, people who applied as late as you did were usually not accepted in the first few rounds, even with high stats. Not saying it’d be impossible for you to hear in the first round but that is just what I noticed.
@fatherof2boys thanks I’ll check that out
@equationlover My application only took a few days after I submitted everything to update, but I also had everything in by September when there was probably less traffic.
@heading2college7 Awe man, I was hoping to be the first batch. They don’t even have everything linked on my account yet, so it’s unlikely.
