Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

@buckeyemom17 not sure if I am the one person but my daughter received National Buckeye and Maximus. We are in New York. Best of luck to your daughter!

@buckeyemom17 OOS son accepted in 1st wave and then recently into honors program -we have not received any scholarship info. Really hoping something comes soon - can’t attend without. GOOD LUCK!

@iamamom3 My daughter is the same. Accepted in 1st wave and then Honors acceptance just before Thanksgiving. No offer for scholarship. She too will choose another school without.

Will the next wave of decisions be released on January 11 or 18? I’m waiting on my admission decision and I’m very anxious.

No one knows for sure, except admissions. Someone upthread said they spoke to admissions and they were told ‘mid-January.’

Once accepted to LSA can you submit an app for Preferred Admission to Ross?

@camcam2022 this is an OSU thread not Michigan

@1happypappy…Any chance your daughter has been communicating with a girl from St louis? My daughter told me she has been talking to a nice girl from NY who has already received her scholarship letter…What would be the odds???

@collegemom9 thanks for the heads up. I am in multiple threads and they start to look alike. LOL Still waiting on OSU decision.

@buckeyemom17 I do not believe that is my daughter although she is a nice girl from NY :slight_smile:

Applied EA still have not heard. Will the next wave be mid January?

Hi, I submitted my app 9/22 and still haven’t heard. Should I be worried. I see all these people who have applied after me or near the same time and they have already heard back.

I got a letter about 2 weeks after I got into the school @Bizdock

@lollipop7 It is random

Quick question. I heard that if you get accepted and plan on attending you should accept ASAP because the first people who accept get in line for better housing. But how is that fair if some people get accepted in Nov and some in January ? Does that mean the Nov acceptance get better housing?

@hopefulOSUbound Housing contracts will be emailed in order based on when the acceptance fee was paid. It’s not based upon who was accepted first, but who paid their fee first. Dorms are first to come, first serve. So I assume this means the earlier you pay your fee, the more options you will have when choosing your dorms-- not necessarily get the “better” housing. The people you see confirming their acceptance now are most likely early action/ decision, so they will receive their housing information before the regular decision (in order of payment). This is as fair as colleges can make it for incoming freshman.

I would suggest that if you have a concern or prefernce of a dorm, you pay your $100 acceptance fee as soon as you have a decision. Then as soon as you are emailed your housing contract, submit the space reservation fee and filing fee ($350) online to secure your dorm room.

for more information or to see dorm options, this is last years housing page: https://housing.osu.edu/articles/urds/42

@JBuck22 @hopefulOSUbound True that the housing contracts will be emailed in order not based upon who was accepted first, but on who paid their fee first but if you were accepted in the first or second wave of early action and paid your fee immediately you would still have a better chance of getting your preference of dorms over someone who was also early action but had the misfortune of being in the third wave of acceptances. Those accepted in November that immediately paid their fee would receive their housing contract information sooner than other early action students admitted in later waves. The sophomore class has already had first choice of dorms, there are honors dorms for the honor students and incoming freshman in a scholars program will be placed in the dorm that corresponds with their program, so the choices for housing are already narrowed down quite a bit. The only thing you have control over is accepting immediately upon being admitted and then go from there. Sophomore year you will be in a lottery for a place in line to choose your housing. It is not under your control at all, it is based on nothing more than a random number drawn for you.

i still haven’t heard back, when should i expect to hear?

@mea2023 January 11th, hopefully.

On my application I selected the Newark branch if I didn’t get admitted to main campus. Will my portal still say admitted or deferred if I don’t get into the main campus?
