Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

So if last years thread didn’t show anything coming out on the 31st and since a lot of us didn’t hear anything today when do you think we’ll hear something?? I’m so confused as to what’s happening next and when I’ll get my decision.

It doesn’t appear many decisions were released today. I believe they are way way behind reviewing EA applications. Be prepared for a lot of deferrals in the next week.

@19Graduate EA decisions are guaranteed to come out by the 31st so sometime between now and then those of us who haven’t received a decision will get one. Last year may have simply been a different situation. From the looks of it, this year is less organized in some aspects than last year, or it could just be the overwhelming number of applicants this year. In any case, if you applied early action, you are guaranteed a decision by the 31st.

So, for the EA applicants who are still under evaluation, are they most likely to get deffered? I have been waiting so long for my decision to come out and am losing lots of hope very quickly:(

I’ll be extremely upset if I waited 4 months just to get deferred all because they didn’t have enough time to review my application for Early Action. I know Penn State deferred a lot of people because they were unable to review all the EA applications in time for Dec 24 (which is the date they stated they’d have all EA decisions out by). However Penn State is releasing the remainder of deferred EA decisions by the 31st. If OSU has to do this too I sure hope they just defer us and have us wait an extra couple of weeks and not till the end of March. Wouldn’t be fair if we get deferred and have to be put in with RD all because they were behind on decisions.

@Cardinalboy23 I don’t think you should make that assumption. Try and remain positive. I know it’s hard (we are waiting too) but, as I posted a few days ago, think of all the hundreds of people who don’t post here. Is this board truly an accurate representation of what’s going on with all OSU applicants who are offline? I don’t think so! What was posted today? Like 9 or 10 acceptances and one deferral? No reflections? Do those #s truly reflect all the decisions release today? My daughter and I choosing to think not. Believe me, we’re frustrated with this admission process, but we’re trying to be cautiously optimistic (but maybe we’re naive or just plain stupid lol). Hang in there!

^^ Typo lol — instead of no reflections, that should have said no rejections.

When does Fisher send their decisions?

just out of curiosity what would happen if I don’t hear back by January 31? I applied September 22 and i’m still under evaluation.

Same here. STILL. UNDER. EVALUATION. As of midnight. Arrrrggghhhhhh

Hi everyone. I’m new to this thread but was admitted Early Action back in November. This was probably already answered somewhere but I’m going to ask it anyways. Some of my friends that were admitted around the same time as me have received merit scholarships and I haven’t. Does this mean I’m not going to get one? I was also a direct admit to Fisher and I got into a Scholars Program. Thank you!

@oj2018 Deferred means you will be reviewed and compared to the RD applications. OSU will not release a separate wave of decisions for EA applicants that were deferred. You will receive a decision by March 31.

A lot of kids from my son and daughter’s school apply to OSU and at least 5 that they know of did not receive a decision yet. Some are scrambling now to apply to other schools that have a Feb 1 RD deadline. The applicants that received decisions in one of the first 4 waves, especially the first in December are at quite an advantage and have been wearing OSU swag that they received for Christmas.

@benbiedenbach Nobody here can answer that. Call admissions and they can check for you.

@benbiedenbach - son is in the same boat. Admitted in November and into Honors - no merit yet. I’ve only seen on this thread NBS with Maximus awards so far. Still hoping they are releasing NBS Provost and Trustee.

@collegedadto3 I know OSU will not do that. I was saying I just hoped that if OSU is actually just behind on reviewing applications, they should handle it the way Penn State did (because Penn State was behind on review of EA applications) by deferring us and giving us a date in a few weeks to hear by. I never said that’s what OSU did.

does anyone know if decisions will be released throughout the week or if they are releasing all decisions on January 31st?

Son admitted yesterday! Sorry I didn’t post sooner!

As a counselor, I recommend you keep in mind some of the things admissions may be looking at…how you compare to students at your school, if you are a first gen student, if you come from a more diverse background than most applicants, etc.

Talked to admissions this week as I have lots of nervous students awaiting decisions. Was told there would be a batch released on 1/25 and last batch on 1/31. Based on my students who are still waiting, I would expect most of them will be admits or deferrals. They all have solid stats.

Just wondering, if I selected a pre-professional program on my application will that cause my application to take longer to review? Does that effect anything? For example if you apppied for early action and a pre-professional program, they will only consider you for either one of those, not both.
