So I was accepted off the waiting list, submitted my SIR on time, and then later checked my email saying it was cancelled. I didn’t cancel it but I think it was a tech error or because my family might have been using the computer and accidentally cancelled it while trying to use it (because they don’t know English). I’ve been in contact with this woman about it but she said she helped me submit a late SIR. (Probably a general thing, just saying I want to submit it late). Later they sent this mass message saying late SIRs couldn’t be approved because they were at their capacity. However, the thing is, my SIR wasn’t even late. And this wasn’t my fault. I didn’t cancel it and I’ve been trying to contact these people for about a month. I tried contacting her but she hasn’t answered. If they do not give me my spot back, can I fight this? It wasn’t my fault and she can check and see that my SIR did go through. I emailed student affairs, the registrar, the chancellors, and a few others about this situation last night because I REALLY want to go to UCD and it wouldn’t be fair if they didn’t let my spot in.

I need to go to UCD because the environment really suits me a lot better and it’s close to my home so I can go home frequently and help my parents with errands since they can’t speak English and they’ll have trouble dealing with them. Any insight? Thanks!

that’s odd. They said it was late?
The deadline is not even past yet.

I haven’t even sent my SIR yet after being accepted from the waitlist.
Have you withdrawed from other schools that you SIRed to?
I have yet to do so.

I would say call undergraduate admissions or since you’re in the area, go to campus to talk to them. If you call or visit, you’ll be guaranteed an answer, unlike an email.
Office hours for undergraduate admissions are weekdays 10-4
Number is 5307522971.
Although if you do call and they give you a negative answer, call again. Sometimes different people give different answers so you might get a more helpful one next time haha just remember to be polite about it.

Oh I am going to be a freshman. I am going to call tomorrow! Thanks. But if they do say no when I ask, do you think I have a good reason to fight against it?

Horrible service. I have been calling these people for over a month and I’ve had nothing but horrible experience with them. Everytime I called, I had a horrible unhelpful person pick up and when I asked them to direct me to someone else, they always directed me to someone who wasn’t even in their office. This happened several times. And so I decided maybe email was better. I sent several emails to a few admissions officers with no response. And since calling obviously never worked because I never got a straight answer, I emailed again and again because they never responded except with mass emails. And so I received no attention to my specific case and they basically just shoved me in with all the other late SIR people who had no excuse but just submitted it late. Then I just got an email today after the 3rd time I emailed this one woman in about 2 weeks. She finally answers and basically says, “What you explained is impossible and couldn’t have happened. So no we can’t give you a spot. By the way, I’ve seen you have been emailing and calling a lot and that’s very disruptive to the office system.” I never got answers when I called and never got replies with my emails so I would email again and again trying to actually get an answer. And if she saw I’ve been calling and emailing a lot, why didn’t they respond on my first call/email… Then I wouldn’t need to “disrupt the system”. But they basically shunned my case saying no that can’t happen and tell me off -____- I’ve given up because even if I respond back, I’m sure they wouldn’t even bother emailing me back.

I totally understand they have a lot of emails but I don’t think it takes them 3 weeks to respond to one email… And the response isn’t even a good one sometimes. I didn’t wait this long for an email that has no real content that actually pertains to my situation…
