I submitted an SIR with UC Santa Barbara, but between then and today a lot has happened. A family member passed away and on top of not wanting to move away from home right now my family and I have become scarce on money. I no longer have the money to move out there. I get financial aid but I still needed a lot more to live out there. I am from the bay area. I had an offer from UC Davis and would be able to live at home and commute there, but I missed the SIR deadline! Please tell me if there is anyway of getting that offer back or something like that! I will call admissions during their office hours and I sent admissions an email already. I just want to know if anyone has ever missed the deadline but was still able to accept the offer from UC Davis!!!
Sorry for your loss. In concerns of the deadline, it may be tough as UCD is now beginning to send out waitlist offers to fill the holes of those who didn’t SIR but were admitted. Calling ASAP is your best bet.
Call them. It’s not over till it’s over.
You will likely have to write some form of petition as to why you’re requesting to be allowed to SIR late, if anything. Contact admissions immediately, it’s certainly not impossible and my advice is to simply try your best. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
My condolences on your loss.
So I called admissions and she gave me the email of the associate director of operations. I left that person an email but I got an auto reply saying she would be out of the office for the rest of the week -___-
I called admissions again and they said she was the only one who could help me. I’ll tell you what happens when she gets back to me hopefully asap!
When she got back to me she asked what grades I was projected to get that Spring. I actually got my grades for the spring semester already and sent those to her. I had all As and one B. Then the next day she got back to me saying I was allowed a late SIR and had a couple days to accept. I accepted right away!
Congratulations!
So glad everything worked out! Thanks for coming back on here and updating!
