Admissions lists

Hey guys, I was wondering: Do unis like Harvard and MIT compare who they admitted? eg. If you get admitted by MIT, will the chances of being admitted by Harvard (or vice versa) be much lower? Is it very uncommon to be admitted by both Harvard and MIT?

Nope. It's a rumour.

Several years ago there was a huge anti-trust case involving MIT and the Ivy schools regarding sharing information about financial aid packages. The ramifications were significant. I would guess that neither school would want to to anything that might result in a similar legal battle in the future...which is what would happen in the case of what you are describing. So the answer would have to be no.

As to how common the admissions to both, no idea..

mercurysquad, how do you know? Does that go for internationals too?

bump bump bump

I remember, when Duke, UPenn, Georgetown, and Harvard had a college fair together in my town back in November, they said something about sharing information and I also remember that they also knew who applied to their school and other schools and stuff, but I don't think they'll reduce your chance. bump^^
