Admissions Office Said Decisions Will Only be Mailed

I REALLY think that decisions will be released online considering that I got an email from Princeton saying "register at this website so that you can check your DECISION (note: not just status) online." I also remember reading somewhere that this was the first year that Princeton was going to do decisions online, so maybe from prior years some counselors are just saying "mail only."

i dont remember, but was there a specific link to check decisions (not status)?

I'm pretty sure that it's the same website where you could have checked your status. You can access it (well, right now you can't) through just clicking through Undergraduate Admission and there's some kind of link that says "CHECK STATUS." You can't check your status anymore (it closed March 10), but I'm pretty sure that's where you'll log in with your PIN or password or whatever the day decisions come out.

To the poster who said something about Cornell already doing decisions: Those are the state funded colleges that are not private and do not need to abide by the official Ivy date thing, I guess.

I know pton10er already stated it... but I dont think theyre sending emails since the website cant be accessed right now because they are "loading them", otherwise the website would be available.

If pton10er is right and decisions are only sent through the mail, how long do you think it'll take to arrive to Mexico? I dont think Ill be able to wait for a week, or even more.

oh, and I really hope that they aren't completely done with decisions, because if that is so they probably didn't get my midyear report before they made a decision, which would be bad.

I don't think they have something like an official ivy date; they just have a common reply date.

I think it's kind of a "common courtesy" thing to release decisions on or near the same date, but my friend was accepted to Cornell two days ago, and that's an Ivy school. At first she was really surprised (not only because she got in) because decisions weren't scheduled to come out, but...she got in. I don't know, it kind of confused me. What happened to "Ivies together"?

j07, to which school of Cornell did your friend apply to? Because I know in Cornell, different schools have different admission release dates. Some even have rolling admissions while the school of Arts and Sciences and the school of engineering release their decisions on the "Ivy date". Well..., usually it's like that.

I think internationals get email notification...

I'm really not sure which school she applied to. I think she might have just gotten a likely letter.

some of the schools at Cornell are state funded, those do not go by the ivy league rules.

I think your friend might have gotten a likely letter. As the Cornell forum site says, a lot of URM and internationals got an early heads-up.

I'm pretty sure it was just a likely letter...she's not URM or international but she's really amazing (admissions-wise) and maybe they wanted to make her feel special or something.

In the past (and even with this yr's ED round), Pton didn't do online notifications. In our 2011 group on Facebook, some of those poor intl's in like Bulgaria and Sri Lanka had to wait quite a while b4 getting packages. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Pton is doing online notifications. Remember that entire scandal a few years back about Pton admissions ppl logging into the Yale system to check the feasibility of an online notification system? Yea... looks like it's come to fruition.

ah, stop bumping this thread, every single time I see the title I think that something aweful has happened.

Everytime someone posts... the admission office rejects an applicant!

SAVE THE APPLICANTS.

I just got an email stating "how to check your status" etc.

Admission decisions for applicants to the Princeton Class of 2011 will be available online on Thursday, March 29, 2007 after 5 pm EDT. We also will mail decision letters by post to all applicants.

Please bookmark this link: https://notify.princeton.edu/. (Be sure to copy and paste the entire link. Note that it begins with https, rather than http.) On March 29, use this link to view your admission decision.

If you have not already registered for a username and password, please do so soon. You will not be able to view your decision online unless you register in advance.

The registration system will be unavailable from 5 to 7 pm EDT on March 29, 2007.

If you already registered to check your application status online, that is the username and password you will use to view your decision. To protect the confidentiality of your decision, do not share your username and password with anyone. When you have finished viewing your decision online, be certain to close your browser.

The online decision view is available to all applicants who listed an email address and PIN on their applications. Applicants who did not list an email address and PIN on the application will need to wait for their decisions to arrive by postal mail, or call our office between 9 am and 5 pm EDT beginning on April 2, 2007.

To register, go to http://www.princeton.edu/admission and click on Register and Check the status of your application.

^^Thanks for this! Now we can just think about the fixed date of the 29th instead of "maybe in a couple of weeks...?"

In regards to Cornell, it probably was not just a likely letter. As has been previously stated, some of Cornell's schools (like the hotel school, etc.) offer rolling admission, so people began to actually find out a couple of weeks ago, and not just get likely letters. If she thinks she got in, she probably did (at least I hope she got in if she thinks she did)! :-)

yeah there is definately an online decision check, i got the email to.
only 8 more days !
