Several other threads have been discussing diversity, chances for admission for underrepresented applicants, etc. VU tweeted a reference to this article today and it made me think that it might be something that a number of you haven’t seen if you weren’t already stalking Vandy back in the summer. One of the possible good things for those of you applying in this admissions cycle is that national demographics show a decline in the number of high school graduates for this year and the next few years. I’m not sure this will impact Vandy and other Tier 1 schools as the Common App makes it so easy to apply to multiple schools, but it could be that there will be fewer applicants this year. That demographic is really painful to schools at the other end of the spectrum, so it will be interesting to see if this year brings another record for applications.
