Admissions Question

I applied to HWS back in the fall forever ago RD. I'm still waiting to hear whether I was accepted or not! Its torture- its my top choice. Everyone it seems has gotten their letters in the last couple of days, and from what I know, they are all acceptances. Any chance I haven't gotten mine yet because I was rejected and they send those out after? I really hope not : /

Danielle,
My apologies for hastily submitting that reply without having finished what I wanted to say completely.

I too applied rather early in the fall;November I believe.

Today I was rejected from my top 2 schools: Santa Clara University and College of the Holy Cross.
I was wait-listed at my number 3 school a few weeks ago: Gettysburg College.

I live in California, and haven’t received an admissions decision either from Hobart and William Smith College.

I am confident that I will be accepted, but I am still waiting to hear.

Mail works strangely at times, and you never know, they may have sent out the letters in an aleatory manner, thereby giving an explanation to why you haven’t received yours yet.

Currently, I don’t know how I feel about Hobart and William Smith, after being rejected by my top two schools day has taken quite a significant toll on me and has made me rather despondent and disgruntled.

What did you apply for? Where else did you apply, if I might be so curious as to ask?

Its understandable you haven’t heard yet because you live so far away! I live only 45 minutes away from campus so its questionable. I too was rejected form my top school so I have much sympathy for you there- it sucks. Also rejected from two others (the three are SU, Vermont and American.) HWS has now replaced my top school choice and I really hope/ need to be accepted otherwise I’m going to a local small school that I’m not fond of or a CC : /

Perhaps, but I still think that the admissions decisions might have sent out the letters sporadically.

What I find somewhat bizarre is that Hobart and William Smith doesn’t have an online portal, really.

I am familiar with American University, and vaguely so with Syracuse University.

For the class of 2010, according to Collegeboard, approximately 60% of their applicants were admitted, so I’m sure you have a good chance, considering your grades are adequate.

I expect to hear tomorrow, and if not, at the latest I should think it to arrive on Wednesday.

I wouldn’t worry too much. In fact, I should think it wise to lower your expectations, so as to diminish the despondence you might feel if Hobart and William Smith ends up denying you acquiescence.

Community colleges are somewhat vexing and unappealing, but, the letter hasn’t arrived yet, and things might proceed differently than expected.

Yes, seeing as it is growing in popularity, I find it bizarre that they have no online portal set up- it would definitely be more helpful. But thanks, I can only hope for the best.

still nothing! I really hope this isn’t a bad sign : /

Please don’t read anything into this question, but did you get confirmations that HWS had all your application paperwork? I know that snail mail is sometimes weird, and the waiting is interminable. If you want, you could call Admissions to simply ask if all the letters (acceptances, rejections, and waitlists) have gone out. Yes, it would be nice if HWS had an online portal, but at this point, unfortunately they don’t. I wish you both well. Let us know how it goes.

I actually ended up calling today when I didn’t get anything! They said they had all of my things and that my letter should be arriving. Thanks

Really? I wonder what the stall was then?
