Admissions Question

Hello All!

So Im currently a history major at a community college in California and finished my applications recently. I applied to Cal State Fullerton, University of Irvine, University of Berkeley, University of San Diego, and the University of Riverside. Here is my situation:

When I initially applied, it was before the fall 2019 term. I was at a 2.92 gpa I believe. I applied regardless because I had shown growth after dropping out. I also checked ASSIST for the programs at these universities, and UCI listed that the minimum GPA for history is a 2.7, so I applied. However, the fall 2019 term is now over.

I managed to get a semester gpa of 3.4, and raised my overall gpa to a 3.2. My questions are: Will this be taken into consideration for decisions? Will my new gpa be factored into the old gpa I submitted? I would appreciate any kind of help. I’m running low on hopes.

[UPDATE: I also checked the UC website, and it states to update the Transfer Academic Update with my fall 2019 grades. However, that option is not available on any of my applications. Will this function become available soon? It says the priority deadline ends Jan. 31 2020. Help.]

TAU for the UC’s will be available in January. For Cal State Fullerton, check your portal to see if they are requesting your Fall transcripts.

Will it be factored into the UC decision?

Yes, your TAU will be considered for your UC admissions decision along with any Fall semester transcript grades for the Cal states.

Do you think I have a shot at UCI as a history major with a 3.2 gpa now, or any university I applied to? Thanks so much for all the help!

This link shows average CSU Transfer GPA by campus not major specfic for the Cal states. Local applicants get priority so is CSUF local?

I’d encourage you to apply more broadly - perhaps TAG UCR and apply to a less competitive CSU or 2. Channel Island and San Bernardino perhaps.
