puzzledlily -- I'll be there too.

the number of colleges people applied to is rather surprising... I only applied to four...Yale(likely), Princeton, Harvard(likely), and Berkeley

can't wait for 3/31...

2/2
many left..hah

mutineer_33,

You got a likely from Harvard? I didn't even know Harvard sent those. All I have to say is WOW. Are you recruited athlete or something? Oh, and about people applying to multiple colleges, if we all had the capability to get likelies from Yale and Harvard, you bet we would only apply to 3/4 schools.

Well, I got into Tufts, which is a good school, but not exactly where I want to go. I got waitlisted at Washington University in St. Louis. I am just waiting to hear from JHU, Amherst, Swarthmore, Emory, Harvard, Brown, Yale, UPenn.

I didn't think Harvard sent likely letters, I was under the impressions that they telephoned their star applicants, instead.

me too, i was surprised to hear that

I also didn't think Harvard sent likely letters, so it definitely was a surprise when I opened it. It reads, "I am delighted to report that the Admissions Committee has asked me to inform you that you are likely to be admitted to the Class of 2009. We anticipate that we will send you the formal letter of admission in April, assuming (as we do) that you will maintain your current academic and personal standards. Each year, only a small number of outstanding applicants receive this early positive indication. We are of course eager to encourage you to choose Harvard. The opinion of the Admissions Committee is not merely that your accomplishments- academic, extracurricular and personal- are impressive, but also that you would be a particularly good match for the opportunities and challenges you would find here. In short, we think you would flourish at Harvard." It then goes on to give facts about Boston/Cambridge and describe the school. The biggest surprise for me though was how late I received it. I got it just last week...the letter's dated March 15th.

Thanks twinkysailor. In response to your question, I'm not an athlete. To be honest, I'm not even all that coordinated...lol

(2 + 0.9 + 0.2)/4

Let me explain . . .

I've got acceptances from Lawrence and Oberlin (both for their double degree programs with their music conservatories).

Two months ago or so, I was told that I got into the double degree program at Bard too, but until now I haven't received any official notification, which explains the 0.9.

I was a finalist for the Freeman Asian Scholarship at Wesleyan University. 2 out of the 10 finalists will get it, which explains the 0.2.

5 for 5: Dartmouth (likely), Wesleyan, Williams (early write), Michigan, Brandeis. I'm still waiting on Yale, Harvard (deferred in Dec.), Brown, Columbia, Amherst, and Vassar.

wngan, you would probably already be in otherwise they wouldn't consider you for the scholarship. 2 out of 10 will get the scholarship but probably all 10 will be accepted.

two for three.: Got in NYU(likely) and UF. Rejected Columbia ED.
Waiting on Yale, Harvard, Penn, Cornell, Northwestern

laurenemma: unfortunately, that's not true. There's a little box on the application form that says something like "check here if you want to be considered for admission if you're not offered the scholarship. Financial aid will not be available for such candidates." I didn't check it because getting in without financial aid would be as good as not getting in.

Okay I see it now. :)

3/3 so far, but im still waiting on 11 schools :D

I'm waiting on 17 schools

whoa...I feel sorry for your counselor!

Wow, I thought I applied to a lot, but it was only 10. In my school, two people sent more applications than I did, and they had about 15 each. But it was different since one sent to like 10 SUNY schools, and the other sent to 10 UC schools.

I had 22 apps total and 3 UC's

my counselor actually just filled out this form letter and there is a secretary at my hs which does all the form stuffing. I got to know her really well and so she was happy when I brought in those 22 manila envelopes, her husband is a prof at stanford thats in the LA area being a visiting profesor to another college, so that's my miniscule connection to stanford

Are you expecting most of the 17 decisions on the 31st?
