Admissions results threads

Lately, as I surf around the forums here, something has really gotten on my nerves- results threads.
Its not that they exist, its how quickly after the letters are sent that they are started. It seems so cruel to those students who were rejected from those schools. In fact, most of the time, * posting on such threads is dominated by accepted students seeking to brag.*
I would propose, then, that out of respect for rejected students, these threads only be started two weeks after results come out. This way, we can be more sure that all posting is intended to help future applicants. There are plenty of other outlets for the excitement of a being accepted to your dream school.....

good suggestion but unfortunately it will never work. People who think they aren't done dealing with rejection (i know i might be one of them..) simply should not come to these boards.

Or maybe they're just trying to show how happy they are?

Or encourage others who are still others that there is hope for them too?

nooob is correct. It's just masochism to say, look over the Dartmouth admitted students' thread if you'd just been rejected. Know that some people will be very happy and others less so. That's all. No need to be resentful or impugn rudeness to others' celebration.

One thing I noticed is that around results-time, these forums are flooded with results threads. Wouldn't it be easy to just have a main results thread for each school in their respective forums? It also might help the people who wonder if anyone with ____ credentials can get into ____ school to have an organized thread to look back on.

thats what i mean, its great to have those resources for applicants know "someone like me was accepted at _____ last year so i have a chance." its clear, though, that the average posting on such threads is not intended for this purpose. would it really kill people to wait a week or two? also, notice that you very very rarely see rejection postings. granted, if i find out im accepted to some reach of mine, ill be eager for everyone to know, so i understand that mentality, but can't it wait a week or two. post a separate thread to brag in the meantime....
