Admissions view on completing community college courses on the Pass/Fail grading system? (UCLA/B)

Generally, will UCLA or Berkeley allow community college transfers to complete select classes on the pass/fail grading system? What if the select course is a prerequisite to the major/major requirement?

SidenoteI’m taking 6 classes (20 semester units), one is an online Intro to Biology course, and I’ve never taken an online class before, and in the mix of the others there is a Discrete Math course and a Psych Statistics course that could both be very difficult/time-consuming. For these reasons, I am considering taking a few of the classes pass/fail as opposed to an A - F grading scale. (Preferably courses that are NOT a major requirements/prerequisites).

generally speaking you cannot take major pre-reqs p/np

You are allowed a certain amount of breath courses p/np and likewise for simply units toward the 60.

Absolutely no major pre reqs as P/NP. Big no-no.

Its 14 semester units can be taken P/NP, from http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/transfer/minimum-requirements/

Yeah, as long as they’re not major courses, you can take some classes pass/no pass.
