Admissions vs. CMU?

Any guesses as to which is tougher as far as admissions go.

CMU (Tepper) or Emory (Business Too)

At Emory you apply to the business school as you go into your senior year, so your major doesn’t really matter at Emory, for admissions sake. That being said, I think there’s really no significant difference in selectivity… If you’re qualified for one school, you’re qualified for both.

You apply for the business school at Emory in your sophomore year.

Tepper is a direct admission b-school, while Goizuetta applicants apply second semester sophomore year. I can’t speak for Tepper admissions, but the admit rate for Goizuetta is about 70%, a somewhat misleading figure since many pre-biz students get weeded out via the bschool prereqs before they even apply.

The average college GPA for accepted Goizuetta students is about a 3.7, which leads me to believe it may be harder to get accepted into Goizuetta than Tepper, since students have to not only get into Emory, but also maintain a high enough GPA, all As in prebiz classes, and take on one or two leadership positions in clubs to get into Goizuetta. But I have no proof for this sentiment.

I meant to say going into your junior year… It would appear after taking 8 AP Econ tests in a row, then finishing an AP Lit project, I had a brainfart. =P

Let me put it this way…the guy who the CMU business school is named after? David Tepper? His daughter, Randi Tepper, went to Emory.

I think that should make up your mind for you.

Can’t you just look up the admission statistics?
