I applied to my state university at the beginning of my senior year and I was accepted immediately. I was offered 3 scholarships to this school and my tuition is basically paid for from those, and I will also be using my dads Gi Bill to pay for my schooling and my living expenses. Half way through my senior year, around spring break, my dad told me I could apply to one school any where in the U.S that I really want to go to since I have the GI BILL to pay for it, he didn’t want to limit me just because he wanted me close to home, so I quickly applied to CU Boulder my dream school, but I applied after the application deadline by more than a month, and I quickly received notification that I was waitlisted. Now that I know I have the opportunity to go there my mind is dead set on it and I am more than devastated about being waitlisted. What can I do to fix that? Is there a way to be accepted into the school after you’ve been waitlisted? I’ll do whatever it takes, and I have my parents support to do so.
It looks pretty good from this. http://www.colorado.edu/pba/cds/cds15/CDS.pdf Look at section C2. 174 accepted the waitlist and they took 200+ from it. After Verifying with your Father, Just let them know that if accepted you will attend.
When you’re waitlisted, the very first thing you should do is contact admissions and let them know that you would like to stay on the list. After that, it’s always good to show more interest while you’re waitlisted. Send them anything that reflects good on you that’s happened since you originally sent in your application. Some examples of supplemental materials could be new grades, awards/scholarships you’ve won, an additional essay, an additional recommendation, etc.
Check out this “letter of encouragement to the college waitlisted” from somebody who found herself waitlisted last year at 6 schools.
She has some good advice on improving your chances of moving from the waitlist to the accepted list.

Still, keep in mind a waitilst is never a sure thing. It is largely dependent on the yield of accepted students. Be sure to deposit at a school you have been accepted at and assume you will be going there unless you hear otherwise. Good luck.
My mom contacted the CU admissions office and they stated that there was less than 1% chance that students on the waitlist would be taken off. I’m super bummed and discouraged.
@rikkxx1 There might have been a 2% chance if you had called instead of your mom.
We were sitting there together, she talked to both of us. @Lindagaf
In any event it seems time to move on and embrace a school that has accepted you. Time to move forward. Good luck.
YAY ACCEPTED AND CONFIRMED AT CU BOULDER
Glad things worked out. Congrats! Now go forth and make the most of your opportunity.
