Thanks @Andrew545. She ended up finding the email in the junk folder on our computer for whatever reason.
Got the same email:
"You truly are an accomplished individual and because of your performance, we are recommending you for admission to the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). "
Was wondering what it meant. Guess it is a bit of a positive reaction.
Also got the same email, but for CNAS. There was a link to apply for the University Honors, but once I clicked the link, there is no other link to apply?
As far as I was concerned I had thought UCR was a safety for me. I’ve got a 2030 on the SAT and pretty decent grades but I haven’t received this email, I checked my junk folder and its not there. However the My UCR account says my app currently being reviewed, does everyone’s say that or just me?

I, as well, received this email about the honors college on Feb 11. What really interested me, though, was the fact that I even received it. My stats are not at all impressive (UC GPA of 3.45 and SAT score of 1910), and neither are my EC’s. My friend on the other hand who has a 4.1 UC GPA and 1940 SAT score did not receive it. Does anyone here on CC have an idea as to why I got this email in the first place considering the circumstances?
@xyz789: According to the link, the GPA criteria for the Honors college is 3.75 cummulative determined by UCR admissions, not your UC GPA. It does not state how they determine the 3.75 cummulative GPA so it is possible that you do qualify.
There are only two tabs on my UCR Account, whereas previously there were My Alerts, My Announcements and My Test Scores too, now only Account Home and My Profile are being reflected. Does this signify something.
anyone who applied to SoBA (school of business admin) get the e-mail from SoBA Dean? just checking coz a friend applied to SoBA and got the email from CHASS…
So if we did not recieve this email does that technically mean we may not have the best chances to receive admission?
I also received one of these emails from the dean of CHASS. I have no idea what it means but I’m hoping its something good. Hopefully we find out soon!!
Also received one of those e-mails from the dean of BCOE! Hopefully it’s something good, my AVID Coordinator at my high school says it’s an acceptance based on past years.
GPA: 4.3 W, 4.0 UW
ACT: 28
SAT: 1840
Best of luck, hope we find out soon!
When you click on the honors link is it taking anyone of you to the honors application? When I click on it, it takes me to the honors page which explains about the program. I guess when it takes us to the honors application it means that we are admitted to UCR, before that happens it doesn’t mean much.
Is anyone of you able the access the application?
@Abra123, my son was told that email invitations to apply to the honors program will be sent in March. These personalized emails will be the only way to access the honors application.
Strange, I received the email regarding this on the 11th. I just got a letter in the mail with the exact same message today.
I received this e-mail as well, I have no idea what it means but Riverside is my number one choice and hoping for the best.
Also did anyone else get the “Future Highlander Newsletter” ? Does this mean that I’ve been accepted but their just waiting till march to formally welcome me? In the highlanders news letter it says “College is just around the corner, so stay ahead of the curve with this e-newsletter. It’s a quick, easy way to keep up with what is going on at UCR and your future here.” and also they told me to save April 9th for Highlander day which is where all the students that have been admitted into Riverside go, look around, and talk to faculty, incoming students, former students and students. I received this email on 2-26-16.
