Admissions

I've been worrying a lot lately about my UGA admissions. I just finished my junior year with all a's and three AP classes, having two prior before that.

My GPA is a 3.8 and I got a 1200/1600-1800/2400 on my SAT.
Do I have enough to stick out and get accepted early action? Or is it too random to tell?
I'm also taking four AP classes my senior year.

Thank you.

No one on CC could tell you 'yes' or 'no' for certain. My SAT was about a 1500/2400 and 990/1600, and I was accepted. I think it has a lot to do with a lot of other things then just the SAT scores, GPA, etc. so do your best to strengthen your application by joining more clubs your Senior year. Also, write great essays and have a letter of recommendation from the teacher you think knows you best. Majority of the people who did not get accepted to UGA had a better SAT score than me, so I know I wasn't accepted because of my SAT scores.

Best of luck and remember to always ask any questions you have on CC. We're here to do our best to provide you with the answers.

You have a pretty good chance. I don't know how many total Ap's you have, but 5-7 is a good amount. Rigor or curriculum is VERY important. Assuming 3.8 is non-weighted GPA and you have about 6 Ap's and many honors classes, you will likely get in. Good Luck.

Thank you. Sorry for the bad wording. I meant to just say something on the lines of if you think I have a good chance, not necessarily if I was for sure going to get in or not.

Status: Georgia Resident, upcoming Senior!
Gender: Female
Race: White

My GPA is a 3.8
Class Rank from first semester of junior year was 118 of 649, which I'm sure will be going up considering my grades from this semester.
SAT: 1210/1600 1810/2400

Freshman Year: AP Human Geography
Sophomore Year: AP World History
Junior Year: Received all A's.
-AP Physics, AP US History, AP Lang&Comp
Senior Year: I'm taking AP Lit, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus AB, AP Econ&Gov, internship for an orthodontist office

Three years of Spanish
Beta Club (two years)
Mentoring/Leadership Program (two years)
Cross Country (three years)
Church Leadership Team

I guess that's enough information. Thank you again!

You will probably both be borderline accepted for EA. milkspill, you may have a harder time because you're female.

...but don't place much weight in what I say. It's just a chance thread by people that have nothing to do with admissions.

you both should give it a try to EA, you're good students, although I don't know what the parameters will be this year.

Awww, choco. I think you have a great chance of getting in, especially if I got in, you definitely have a great shot at UGA. Sorry if my first post seemed out there.

Thanks guys. I'll just keep you posted throughout the year on my acceptance. Have a great day/month/year! :D

I was accepted EA with a 1220/1600 SAT and only 4 APs during senior year, so I think you have a pretty good chance.

I think you've got a good chance considering I was accepted EA 1170/1600 and only 3AP's my whole high school career (though with a 4.0GPA and all passing AP scores). Sometimes I feel admission is luck of the draw considering my number of AP's and my SAT scores...but...shrugs

I am also thinking about applying to Georgia. I have a 3.2/3.7. I scored a 1270/1600 and a 29 on the ACT. I played varsity golf for three years and am involved in 2-3 clubs. Also have about 60+ hrs of comm. service. I am out of state and I have heard it is a little less competitive because of the HOPE scholarship...is that true? Also, is it easier to get in applying EA or harder due to stronger applications?

I got in EA! :D
Thanks guys for your replies.

you would've got in EA this year

can't say for next year, you never know.
