Haverford is my first choice school, but I was unable to apply Early Decision because of some financial concerns in my family. However, somebody at my school was able to apply Early Decision and got in. Now, we're very different...he's an athlete, I'm more focused on music, but I have a higher class rank.

Now my question is, since he already got in, does that somehow lessen my chances of getting into Haverford? As I said, we're very different students, but I've been told that it's highly unlikely Haverford would admit two students from the same public high school. Is this true?

Probably not true, is my guess. I mean, it may hurt your chances a little, but it's not like haverford would completely rule you out because you guys went to the same high school. There are lots of kids who went to the same school here. Two kids from the class above me from my high school are at Haverford now. Another girl and I were both accepted from my graduating class of about 100 (i'm a sophomore at haverford; she goes to barnard). I was accepted early and she was accepted regular. I mean i don't really know for sure, obviously, but given that there are a quite a few kids who went to the same high school here, i wouldn't be too worried about it.

Thanks a lot for the replies. As I said, we're two different people, also that he wants to major in biology and I want to do English, so I didn't think it would be that big of a deal but everybody around me has been saying it's bad for me that he got in. So again, thank you for the reassurance.
