Admitted and Confused

Hey everyone!
I just had a question about the James Scholar Program.
I recently received an email from UIUC that asked my family and I to attend a by invitation only meeting with the newly admitted students of the Business Undergraduate Program. I think this may be for James Scholar/Honors Program so I had some questions.

For the James Scholar Program, do the top 15% of students get into the program automatically, or are you admitted once you receive the required GPA.

Below is a link and some of the text about the program from the page... but its not all that clear.

"College of Business

James Scholar Program
Admission: The top 15% of the entering freshman class is invited to participate in the College of Business James Scholar Program as a James Scholar Nominee. These incoming students are notified of their eligibility in a letter from the College.

Continuing Students: Students are certified as James Scholars for the academic year if they have a 3.5 G.P.A. each semester and have completed at least one honors activity during that year. Students may nominate themselves for James Scholar status."

When you apply to the university as a freshman, you can join the James Scholar if your ACT/SAT score or class rank is high. To stay in the program once you enroll in the university, you have to maintain a certain GPA or you get kicked out of the program.

thanks for clearing that up!
